The Parlour located in Oxfordshire is a haven for Health and Beauty offering a full range of beauty treatments, permanent hair removal, skin treatments plus red vein, mole, skin tag removal.

The Parlour, Oxford Beauty Salon, was established by Sian Lewis in 1984 to provide beauty treatments in a welcoming and friendly environment. Here at the Parlour our priority is our clients. We offer consultations before commencing treatments to ensure the client is happy, comfortable and confident.

We specialise in Hair Removal and Skin Treatments but we do a full range of Beauty Treatments including waxing, manicures, pedicures, spray tans, massage, facials, eyebrows and eyelashes.

It's easy to park your car too - with off street parking for all our clients. We are located at the corner of Barton Road and Barton Lane. See the side entrance to a big white house called Barton House.

Covid-19 Update:

The salon will be open from 5th August one therapist will be working on her own each day so we ask clients to only arrive at the time of their appointment alone. If you arrive by car please wait in your car outside until the therapist calls you in. We are trying to separate bookings so there is clean up time between appointments before we let the next client in.

Clients will be required to wear a mask inside the salon (when social distancing can’t be maintained) where we will do everything to mitigate the risks of Covid-19 for our staff and clients. Everything within the salon will be paired back to make cleaning easier. Toilet facilities will be available only in an emergency.

Why Massage?

Modern life is busy and often stressful. We put tremendous strain on our bodies, physically, mentally and emotionally. As amazing and resilient as the human body is, it isn't indestructible. Over time, constant stress and strain can manifest itself in a variety of ways, such as muscle tension, inflammation, fatigue, headaches, disease, and a variety of other ailments. Massage is designed to return the body to homeostasis - a natural internal balance. That's where I come in! Unlike many massages, the treatments I perform are not done to a routine. Rather, each treatment is specifically catered to the individual client to best suit their needs. I employ a range of massage techniques, (such as Deep Tissue, Sports, Neuromuscular Technique, Swedish, Lymphatic Drainage), which are all specifically designed to promote fast recovery and balance within the body.

What to expect

All initial bookings are confirmed via a brief, friendly phone conversation, where you are free to ask me any questions you might have before making your booking.

When you arrive for your first appointment, I will take you into the treatment room and sit with you whilst we discuss how you are, and what your needs are from the session. During the initial consultation we can discuss any thoughts or concerns you might have, as well as taking some details about your medical history, your working, and social life. With the information gained during this conversation, I will be able to tailor a treatment that is specific to you, ensuring that the massage you receive targets any key areas that need attention. The massage does not follow a routine, and all areas that we work on will have been agreed upon beforehand.

Once the consultation is over, I will leave the room whilst you undress to a level you are comfortable with and lie on the massage table underneath a full length drape. When the massage begins, the only parts of the body that will be uncovered are your head and the area that I am currently massaging. I will check in with you during the massage to ensure you are comfortable and that the pressure is okay. I welcome any feedback, so please don't feel that you need to stay quiet if at any point the pressure is too much, or not enough.

Once the massage is finished, I will once again leave the room to get a fresh glass of water for you whilst you get dressed. When I return, we will discuss the treatment and any relevant aftercare. Lastly, I will take payment, and book in any future appointments, if applicable.

My motto: To bring your body back to balance, within an environment of comfort, warmth and relaxation. :)

Workdays

My working days/hours are Monday to Friday, 9-6 in a dedicated and relaxing treatment room at my home in the centre of Worcester.

About me

My name is Stuart, aka The Worcester Massage Therapist. I have a level 4 qualification in Holistic Massage and Bodywork with the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork (BCMB). I am registered with the Massage Training Institute (MTI) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

I hope to see you soon!

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

"The most relaxed I've ever felt" - a recent client. Such profound relaxation is a common experience with Craniosacral work.

Craniosacral Therapy offers the possibility of creating a deep state of relaxation by interacting with the unconscious nervous system and focussing on invoking stillness in the body; as such it can be a great help for addressing underlying emotional stresses. It can be felt as if almost falling asleep and the state of relaxation achieved is similar to that as in meditation. People often experience other personal variations of peace and stillness as well.

Many great minds have utilised this kind of stillness to aid creative thinking and problem solving. It may also be useful tool if you are looking to begin meditating and are finding it difficult to sufficiently quieten the mind.

STRUCTURAL MASSAGE

‘Structure’ refers to the profound internal arrangement and alignment of our bodies; by effecting changes on this deep level of structure we can enhance levels of physical freedom, mobility and bodily comfort. We always work to reconnect with the structural pattern of health, which is upright, balanced and relaxed.

By addressing the connective tissue (fascia) of the body (fascial release) old patterns of movement and habit are free to change and your body is allowed to soften and release in a way not possible from addressing the musculature alone.
