I have stayed at the manor many many times and love it which is why I return. However this time I felt disappointed. I stayed in room 16 which was clean but the walls are badly marked, the tv goes off at times and crackles, the remote didn't work and there was a lamp not working. The fire in the lounge isn't working so that spoilt the ambience, the gas behind the bar was off so I could have soda water and there is a loose broken time at the side entrance to reception on which caused me to trip. The Jacuzzi was out of action and there was an absence of steam in the steam room.
On the plus side our platter and proseco was fabulous. The staff are great and my treatment was great. James on reception, Fran my beauty therapist, Dave the night porter and Ross behind the bar were fantastic.i found all of the other staff to be friendly and helpful. Loved the new conservatory and treatment packaged on offer. Even though I was disappointed I will return
Loved the old feel of the hotel. The spa facilities would have been better if the steam room and jacuzzi weren't out of order. It has the potential to be a gorgeous place but the whole place needs a really good scrub and degriming. More staff is needed too, it stated the spa wasn't staffed and there were towels, plastic cups and snack wrappers strewn about.
My friend and I had the back, neck and shoulder massage and we both agreed these were top notch treatments. The girls were lovely and very professional. All in all we had a pleasant experience but the lack of staff and the uncleanliness let's this place down
I attended the Spa a couple of weeks ago bought through Groupon as a treat from my husband to help me de stress.
I found the pool was cold as was the conservatory where water from the roof dripped on my head. The jacuzzi was also cold with the bottom part not functioning. Having spoken to one of the regular members he said that the pool was generally cold and the jacuzzi had not been working for 3 weeks.
I didn’t find it relaxing because it was so cold.
I went for the light lunch at 12.30pm. I was spoken to by Dave the member of staff on duty very quickly after sitting down, who took my drinks order and brought a menu.,
A coffee was brought to my table with a small milk bottle which I can only describe as disgusting. It was dirty and I decided not to use it. I should have complained but then they should never have let it leave the kitchen like that.
I also had to wait 25 minutes until my order was taken despite being in front of 4 other couples who arrived after me. There orders had been taken and meals served. Dave was very pleasant but found a lack of organisation with the ‘dining room’. There appeared to be no system in place.
The experience in general was not enjoyable. It was so cold I decided to get a shower and go home early leaving at 2pm.
My treatments were I have to say not the best I have experienced. The therapist again was pleasant and polite however the back massage had the same movements over the back, no change in technique at all. The facial I felt was rushed and the head massage was the therapist stroking my dry hair which was pulling, anything but relaxing. I expect a head massage to be similar to one you would receive in a hairdressers.
The building in my opinion is not clean. My bathrobe has a hole in the arm and the shower and pool area again not clean.
I have no complaints about the staff, they were friendly and polite. I believe the Groupon deals are used by The Manor House to generate revenue and keep it going. I would not recommend this to anyone who wants a lovely relaxing spa day.
Very disappointed, jacuzzi not working nor was the steam room. Without the treatments we could have been sat anywhere. Also had difficulty finding a staff member to even order a coffee - I await a response to this review.
