This was good value for money, but I guess you get what you pay for.
The hotel room was clean but tired looking.
The service in the restaurant felt very rushed for our afternoon tea despite there being hardly anyone in there.
The spa facilities/ gym were good. Our robes were old and my partners had a hole in it.
We had a couples Swedish massage which was good, but the therapist was late and we were out in the wrong room and I had to redress and move. Staff didn't seem to know what was going on.
The therapist was male and we were not asked if we were comfortable with this or not. My friend and I were in a treatment room together. Again we were not given a choice about this. Unfortunately both therapists smelled very strongly of nicotine and tobacco both on their hands and their breath which was off putting in terms of sensory and physical relaxation. The products did not feel luxurious. The treatment room was cold and worn. The whole ambience was off for me.
We stayed here last night and it’s such a shame, because the venue and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The pool area and outdoor jacuzzi are stunning, and the young lad serving drinks there was a lovely touch — friendly, attentive, and a real highlight of our stay.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. Our room was insect-infested — we found around 20 live and dead ladybirds along with other insects. It was really unpleasant and made it impossible to relax.
