Shiatsu • Deep Tissue • Back, Neck & Shoulders Massage

The City Zen Sanctuary offers professional therapeutic bodywork in Edinburgh, including Shiatsu, Deep Tissue massage, and Back, Neck & Shoulders treatments, supporting people with stress, tension, pain, and ongoing physical or emotional strain.

Clients book different treatments depending on what they need in the moment:

  • Back, Neck & Shoulders massage for focused relief of tension and desk-related strain
  • Deep Tissue massage for chronic tightness, restricted movement, or muscular discomfort
  • Shiatsu for more holistic support, working with the nervous system, energy balance, and overall wellbeing

All sessions are tailored to the individual and begin with a short consultation. Depending on your needs, treatments may combine elements of different approaches to achieve the most effective outcome. Shiatsu treatments are usually received fully clothed.

Many clients come to the City Zen Sanctuary when they:

  • Feel stressed, overwhelmed, or physically run down
  • Experience recurring tension or pain that keeps returning
  • Want more than a relaxing massage and are seeking therapeutic support
  • Are looking for structured care rather than one-off appointments

While a single session can be beneficial, most clients see the greatest improvement through a short series of treatments, allowing the body to respond, adapt, and stabilise over time.

Edinburgh Waverley station is just a 12-minute walk away, and there are numerous bus services from all across the city on adjacent Princes Street and George Street, so you'll have no problem getting to the City Sanctuary. Plenty of paid parking is available nearby, for those arriving by car.

AB Holistic Therapies - Edinburgh

Welcome to AB Holistic Therapies! My Name is Agnieszka Borowiec. I’m thrilled to share a little about myself and the journey that has brought me here. From the moment I started my journey into holistic health, I became fascinated by the human body – particularly the fascia. Yes, that web of connective tissue that most people overlook. But let me tell you, it’s a game changer when it comes to wellbeing!

I’ve gathered quite the toolbox of qualifications over the years, including:

- Holistic Massage
- Traditional Thai Massage
- Advanced Myofascial Release
- Multiple specialized courses in Myofascial Release (I can’t get enough!)
- Aesthetic Face Therapy and Aesthetic Osteopathy with the fabulous Marie Margo
- Face Split Massage with the talented Larisa Vitvinova
- Vacuum Therapy for both face and body from the Body Sign school
- Kinetic Chain Release and Connective Tissue Release courses with the incredible Hugh Gilbert

With this array of skills, I’ve dived headfirst into the world of deep reconstructive face therapies. They’re a real lifesaver for anyone dealing with face and jaw tension, migraines, swelling, and even facial asymmetry. Who knew that tension could make us look like we’ve just stepped off a rollercoaster?

But beyond the qualifications, it’s my caring attitude that I cherish most. I genuinely want to provide a nurturing space where you can relax, unwind, and let all those worries slip away. Here at AB Holistic Therapies, it’s not just about treating symptoms; it’s about building a partnership in your journey to wellness.

So if you're ready to embark on this holistic adventure with me, let’s uncover the wonders of your body together! Who knows, we might even have a few laughs along the way. Your wellbeing awaits!

Our work is rooted in the belief that the body functions best when balance is restored physically, energetically and mentally.

We draw from both Western therapeutic practices and Oriental healing traditions, combining modern understanding of the body with techniques that have supported wellbeing for centuries. We also see health as something to care for consistently, supporting the body before issues build and helping it stay balanced over time.

Rather than offering fixed protocols, each treatment is adapted to the individual and what they need. The result is a personal approach that supports restoration and long-term wellbeing, while also encouraging preventative care and regular maintenance to help the body and mind stay aligned and better handle the demands of daily life.L’Atelier Wellness Edinburgh is designed as a quiet, private space where you can step away from daily pressures and receive the care you deserve. It is a place not only for recovery, but for ongoing support, where looking after your wellbeing becomes a natural and sustainable part of your routine.

Welcome to Flow & Massage Therapy at Westwoods Health Club, Edinburgh,

I’m Rosa, a compassionate and intuitive massage therapist with over a decade of experience. All my treatment times refer to hands-on time. I also allow gentle space afterwards for you to get ready slowly, and a moment for me to prepare the room with care so your experience feels calm and unrushed. I specialise in Abdominal Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage, two profoundly restorative and powerful treatments that now sit at the heart of my work.

These methods offer far more than surface-level relief. They invite your body to release what it’s been holding, return to balance, and reconnect with itself. Abdominal Therapy gently supports the belly, womb, lower back and pelvis, helping you drop into your centre with care and grounding. My sculpting lymphatic work supports detoxification, fluid balance, and nervous system regulation — helping you feel lighter, brighter and more energised from the inside out.

My approach is holistic and personal. I work with the whole person, body, mind and soul — and tailor each treatment to meet you where you are. I listen to what’s said and what’s unsaid, and I hold space for you with integrity, warmth and professionalism.

Before starting my practice, I trained extensively and worked in hotel spas and high street salons, building hands-on experience while deepening my skills. In 2015, I completed my CIDESCO, ITEC and Mary Reid qualifications at the Mary Reid Spa Academy in Edinburgh. This was followed by a Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology from Scottish Massage Schools in 2017, and a Diploma in Sports & Remedial Massage from Western School Massage in 2021 — a proud achievement during the height of the pandemic.

Since then, I’ve continued investing in specialised training, including:

  • Abdominal Therapy (as taught by the Abdominal Therapy Collective, directly affiliated with Dr Rosita Arvigo)
  • Lymphatic Drainage & Sculpting Massage (body & facial)
  • Pregnancy Massage (FEDANT accredited)
  • Thai Herbal Poultice Massage
  • Warm Bamboo Massage
  • Hot Stone Massage
  • Confident Skin Therapist certification

Before all of this, I graduated with a BA in Acting for Stage and Screen in 2009, and it was through that creative training in movement and body awareness that I first became curious about how the body holds and expresses emotion. That curiosity led me to massage therapy, and over time, it became my path.

I value compassion, integrity and honesty in both life and work. I know the worth of what I offer not just the time in the treatment room, but the depth, skill and presence that holds it all together. I don’t offer generic massages. I offer a space for reconnection, release and healing.

Welcome to Douglas Caird Intuitive Holistic Therapy. Douglas is an experienced therapist, having dedicated over 25 years to working as a full-time professional practitioner. His treatments are nourishing, restorative and balancing and focus on gently relieving physical and emotional build-up, holding and tensions from stress and anxiety. Douglas will encourage and support you in making the most of your session – for your experience to be the one that is most helpful to you.

Douglas’s massage (originally Swedish based) can be described as nourishing holistic massage and bodywork in that it intrinsically encompasses elements of all the approaches he works with. Integrated sessions are also encouraged, where a combination of treatments are used to work with you in the most appropriate way on the day.

With a wholly person-centred approach, Douglas encourages working in a way in which your session can be tailored to suit your needs on the day and can be changed at any time. You can therefore book the treatment/s that you know you want, or just book an open session and decide on the day, after consultation.

Initially qualified in reflexology he then trained in massage and reiki (master level), clinical hypnotherapy and emotional freedom techniques. In 2024, he completed a 2 year diploma in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy.

Douglas has worked in a variety of clinic settings in Edinburgh and Gloucestershire, including a 3 year period as a senior therapist in 2 high-end rural spas. During this time he taught massage, Indian head massage and spa therapies (BTEC) at Stroud college. He worked as a volunteer counsellor at FDAMH, Falkirk’s Mental health Association.

Do you ever feel the weight of everyday life sitting in your shoulders, your jaw, your breath? Do you crave to feel lighter, calmer and more connected to your body again? Welcome to Touch Holistic Therapy.

Touch Holistic Therapy is a space where massage becomes more than physical work. It is a conscious practice of slowing down, releasing what no longer serves you and restoring balance within the body and mind.

Drawing from Ayurvedic principles alongside Western massage therapy, Alisa works intuitively with each client, listening deeply to the body and tailoring every session to your individual needs.

Her treatments focus not only on easing muscle tension, but also on supporting the nervous system, lymphatic flow, circulation and emotional wellbeing. Each session is unhurried and intentional, creating a safe and nurturing space where you can fully let go and feel genuinely cared for.

Whether you are managing stress, fatigue, pain, or simply seeking a moment of stillness, Touch Holistic Therapy invites you to reconnect with yourself through skilled, mindful touch.

I’m Greg, a qualified pharmacist with over 10 years of experience working in healthcare, and the founder of The Holistic Pharmacist.

My work brings together my background in health and physiology with hands-on treatments designed to support physical recovery, relaxation, and overall wellbeing. I offer massage treatments and infrared light therapy that help reduce muscular tension, improve circulation, and give the body space to reset.

Many of the clients I work with lead busy or physically demanding lives - whether through work, training, or everyday stress. My treatments are designed to support the body when it’s under pressure, helping to release tight muscles, encourage recovery, and promote relaxation.

Each appointment begins with a short consultation so the treatment can be adapted to your needs on the day. Some sessions focus on deeper work to address areas of muscular tension, while others are more restorative, helping calm the nervous system and bring the body back into balance.

My aim is to provide treatments that are thoughtful, professional, and grounded in an understanding of how the body works, while creating a space where clients can fully relax and switch off.

Treating the body, supporting the mind.
