Berkshire Tai Chi was established in 1996 by Philip Larsson and Trevor Priest, both students of Karel Koskuba and founder members of the Chinese Internal Arts Association.
Since 1999 we have been training under the personal guidance of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang, 19th generation standard bearer of Chen family Tai Chi, and our own work is directly influenced by his teaching.
We offer regular weekly Tai Chi Chuan classes in Chen Style and Yang Style across the Royal County of Berkshire, with main centres in the Reading area, in West Berkshire, in Wokingham Borough and Yateley in Hampshire.
Our aim is to provide a practical balance between health and fitness programmes, and those which place more emphasis on self-defence and the martial arts, thereby providing something for everyone - wherever their interests and capabilities lie.
In addition to our weekly classes, we also design and deliver corporate training programmes to help with stress management and various organisation development initiatives as well as organising retreats for both corporate clients and individuals needing to relax and rejuvenate.
Increasingly, we are helping to introduce Tai Chi and Chi Kung classes into Primary Schools where they are used not just as an aid to health and fitness, but also as a means of calming pupils and sharpening their concentration and mental focus. We also provide tailored programmes for various Special Needs groups.
Private lessons can be arranged on request.
