Lovely spa, good facilities, food nice. Great staff on bar and therapies. Reception staff not over friendly and helpful.

Extremely disappointing experience. Booked a relaxing spa day for my birthday. Changing room full of small children/toddlers +playpen right in the centre of the small changing room. Went to pool first which was full of children and their parents. One lane roped off...presumably to allow other guests without children to use? despite this a few parents were actively encouraging their children to use this lane jumping from the side. No monitoring from spa staff. All the available seats taken so couldn't even sit and read my book. Went to the so called spa experience.... steam room seats min of 5. Eventually went to the relaxation room upstairs as there is only so much you can experience in such a small space.Relaxation room empty for the hour I stayed there. Tried the pool again but it was still full of children and parents with a swimming class still in progress with instructor and toddlers in pool. By this time it was after 1pm. My pre planned cream tea was booked for 2pm. Asked if this could be brought forward as I couldn't envisage staying much longer. Scones served were very nice however I was seated with a gentleman and his very young baby to my right. To my left was a lady with a toddler and another very small baby. What ensued was unbelievable. They proceeded to have a discussion across my table about sleep patterns , nappy issues/patterns/ feeding etc etc. After this I left at 2.30. I realise this venue advertises itself as "family friendly"That's fine but why promote as a relaxing spa day experience when it's full of families and also local people with their children using as a day swimming pool. How can this venue cater for all and give a good service to everyone. I presume all their customers are important to them? I have posted a message on Trip Advisor as Treatwell were unable to receive my review....and had a rather disengenious reply from a manager stating that I should have been informed that Wednesdays are as I experienced on the day, due to swimming lessons and it was the fault of the staff not to have made me aware of this on booking. Unbelievable! I will not be frequenting the Elms again or using Treatwell to purchase other products. Very poor service overall.

We are seasoned spa goers & really enjoyed this visit. There was a slight hiccough re food in spa cafe but staff rectified & compensated this readily. They went out of their way on arrival to give us a twin room which we preferred even though had booked double. Food was lovely & building gorgeous. Would go again
Myself and a friend visited The Elms on Sunday 19th June for a spa day with a half hour treatment each and we had a wonderful time. Even since my friend moved away we try to meet up once or twice a year for a spa day and always go somewhere new but The Elms is by far the best place we've been to in the past four or so years. The treatments were great (the scalp, neck and shoulder massage was amazing), the staff friendly and the whole atmosphere at the hotel was lovely and relaxed. The hotel is family orientated and there were guests including children using the facilities which didn't bother us in the slightest as they were well behaved. The cream tea that came with the deal was delicious and I was even more impressed as I am gluten and lactose intolerant - this is usually an issue at most places but the staff were happy to adapt my food and drink and presented me with a freshly baked gluten free scone, soya latte and dairy free spread with jam. Bliss. We wandered around the hotel at the end of the day and found lovely gardens and grounds which included a kitchen garden full of a wide variety of fruit and veg - they really do serve fresh produce here! Overall we had a wonderful day and would definitely visit again. Highly recommended.
