I had booked the main building (which is truly stunning!) and got a room in the adherent coach house when i checked in. I was told that I can upgrade to a room in the Walton hall building for 20 GBP - which i didn't, but should after moving into the room i was booked into. it was very small, but newly furnished. unfortunately the outside carpet smelled so strong that the room did as well. the room was clean though, and modern, but the bed was a catastrophe and parts of the shower missing. re the spa, i had called 3d in advance and had no problem booking the treatments, despite the fact that there were no appointments on the 2nd day, so we had to be there early in order to have out treatments on the day of arrival. the booked treatments were fine. the pool is a bit run down and the sauna area is not worth going at all (tiny and old!), the view onto the gorgeous landscape from the pool area is blocked by an exercise room that isn't used (what a shame). the gym is fine and according to ****hotel standards, no complaints here. dinner was amazing - the true highlight of our stay! friendly staff and outstanding food. Therefore breakfast was (almost below) average and the room very crowded.
Overall: I'd go again (it's still a decent deal and a quiet place) and book a room in the main building.
Fab hotel - room, fab spa area, fab staff - total relaxation would reccommend and i would go back!!!
