The reception staff were brilliant, and the lady behind the bar was great, nothing was a problem and she did everything with a smile, if we had rated on just these 2 points we would have given 4 to 5 stars. But, There was a problem with the pool heating system, and the pool was cold, which we also accepted was beyond there control. The down fall as far as we were concerned, were the beauty therapists. The treatments were mediocre and I felt I had interrupted their day. When we were getting changed to go home, she said, its such a shame, all the other times we have been here the therapists were so good and we decided not to return to
This is a lovely hotel but the leisure facilities and spa fall short of the smart, classic style of the hotel. The pool was lovely and warm but fairly small and it got very crowded when there were 8 of us in the pool on one of the days. I wasn't able to use the steam/sauna because I'm pregnant. The leisure centre reception was frequently unattended and I ended up helping myself to towels from behind the desk on one of the days. The spa staff were friendly and competent enough but the reception again was poor, with none of the doors labelled as being reception and no-one around to ask where I should wait. It's quite difficult to have a relaxing experience when it starts like that.
A great value for money break at a lovely location. Restaurant food excellent, room fab too. Spa average but treatments very good. Would certainly return
