I arrived at the spa 15mins before my appointment. When I arrived there were no staff at all in front lobby. So I waited at the desk for 15mins. As no one had come through I took a seat as I didn't want to go wandering through the treatment rooms.
When a therapist final came out of a room (chatting to a fellow member of staff), she said "Are you my 11am? You're 20mins late, I didn't think you were coming!"
I explained that I had been waiting the entire time, but she didn't acknowledge it.
When asked what treatments I was booked in for, I said 'Brazilian Wax and Back and Shoulder Massage". The therapist said "No, you're booked in for a bikini wax and an all over massage."
When I explained that isn't what I had asked for, she sighed and said, "Well I can only do a bikini wax, is that alright?" I said "Yes as it's my first bikini wax, maybe that would be better".
The room was cramped and extremely warm. She asked me what my pain threshold was like if I hadn't been waxed before. I explained that I had a number of tattoos and that I thought I would be ok.
She then started asking me if I was going to regret my tattoos and that I could always 'get them removed'. I thought that this was a little out of her jurisdiction to comment on considering I had come there to relax.
Before I went for my first wax, I had watched videos on the subject, making sure I knew what I was getting myself in for. In all of the videos the clients were asked to hold certain areas taught, so that the waxing could be done cleanly. The therapist only asked me to do this once, which actually caused a lot of pain. However, I dealt with it ok.
Apart from when the therapist ripped a strip then exclaimed 'Oh no!'. which obviously didn't fill me with confidence. 'You seem to be bleeding quite a lot. YOu must have sensitive skin.'
I was willing for the waxing to be over.
The massage was next. Which was actually not too bad in itself. A good amount of pressure was applied, yet I found it hard to relax due to the waxing experience I had just been put through.
After the massage had finished she just left the room. The therapist didn't say anything. Then she came back in and said 'Oh you can get dressed. I'll wait out front'
As the room was really hot I was feeling faint and dizzy. I dressed and headed out to the front desk.
Another therapist said.
"You took another persons appointment. You were supposed to be with me."
Apparently the reason that my therapist thought I was having other treatments was because she was booked in with another client.
I explained that this was not my fault due to the fact that I had explained to the therapist what I had been booked in for and she hadn't check my details at the desk.
Stupidly, I paid up and left. I was OFFERED A LOYALTY CARD before I left.
HA! I am NEVER going back there ever again!!
Not good overall. Issues were: First the bed broke so needed a reschedule that week. Then staff did not ask whether any members were male, so that was an appointment reschedule on the day. I had booked as part of a London trip so the reschedules were not convenient. Add to this, it very awkward process for the exfoliation deal. You are showered on the bed you are exfoliated on, so never feel clean. They also offer that you moisturise yourself, which really was not the point. My partner took them up on it as he was then embarrassed to say they can moisturise. They also do not ask if you have any health issues or if pregnant. I would not go again thought staff were nice enough when I did finally get there.
Nice place, lovely staff, good stylist. Was a nice pre-Christmas treat and I was generally pretty happy with the cut and colour. It was the first time I had been there and I reckon I'd go again.
I had a lovely experience, the place is well maintained and staff was friendly. I liked the way my hair looks. Just one thing - as it was my first time I did not know I need to use a special aftercare to keep the result - and I was informed about it when leaving (!) That was weird!
Good value for money in terms of results on my hair. The staff is nice and friendly. The overall experience is penalised by the poor state of the venue, though.
