A wonderful spa which offers a really relaxing experience.
Unfortunately many of the features of the pool facilities were not working including the jacuzzi and the pool water fountain. A number of the guests were very noisy and although not the fault of the spa the staff could have addressed this with these guests. The showers were not the most clean and the shampoo in one of the showers was empty. The toilets were not clean and there was tissue all over the ground.
Mixed feelings about this place. At times it was chaotic and felt like Piccadilly Station even in the relaxation room but the key elements were fine. I was a single client and had to be proactive else I would have been forgotten and I was at one stage left for 20 mins listening to an upset couple who's day had been ruined by a double booking before someone remembered I was there waiting. On the plus side was a good treatment and therapist. Great afternoon tea. Overall value for money.
Wonderful treatment, great therapist - could not fault that part at all! However...other staff were completely disinterested and just seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The whole place was littered with towels and cups. The water and tea were rarely if ever refilled. There was no shampoo/conditioner in the ladies changing room and a very old hairdryer. The staff should have been on top of this but they really were just stood around. The exception to this was the lady providing afternoon tea/lunches in the spa cafe. She was excellent and did seem rushed off her feet whilst other staff stood idly by. Another customer shared our views and was loudly complaining about the place in the relaxation room - it then took 3 members of staff talking to him until it finally dawned on one of them that perhaps this ‘haven of relaxation’ wasn’t the place to have this conversation and they took him outside to air his thoughts. Very unprofessional. The pool and sauna were lovely and nicely designed, if a bit on the small side for a hotel of this size. The pool floor was dreadfully slippy - we saw a lot of people slip - again basic housekeeping letting them down. Overall had a wonderful day the body ritual was amazing and Sian was a great therapist. Just a shame about the rest of it...housekeeping really lets this place down unfortunately.
The deal was worth the money. Staff were friendly and the massage was very relaxing. The facilities (sauna, steam room, pool, relaxation room) were good. The changing room was a little dirty, there was no shower gel and many of the lockers didn’t work-but I wasn’t there for the locker room. Afternoon tea was pleasant and the waitress was very friendly and polite.
