I seriously thought that the crew of 'You've been framed' or 'Candid Camera' were going to come out of the closet, having filmed my 'experience' at this salon. Yes, I booked a full head of highlights. A good price. I asked the guy if he would give me just a trim - my fringe and the ends as I was off to Canada for a holiday. He said he couldn't. I would have to book in a further appointment. I said, "just a five minute trim, please." No. This could not be done. He was asking my advice about the colour of my highlights. I would expect that he would give ME advice, not the other way round. After having the highlights done (no magazine offered to me to read), a young lady washed my hair in the rear of the shop. The guy asked if I used any products when blow drying my hair and what I liked. Again, I thought it his prerogative to choose according to my hair. THEN . . . I was given a hairdryer, 2 x blow dry brushes, two products and a chair in the middle of the salon to BLOW DRY MY OWN HAIR whilst the outside world was watching! How humiliating. I'm a confident person but to somebody less outgoing, it would have been completely embarrassing. Utterly outrageous. My cheap highlights at £40 were not cheap because I then had to go find a second hairdresser (expensive due to time restraint) to actually cut my hair and of course, they insisted on washing it . . . . I said, 'no blow drying please' and went back home and did it myself. A complete and utter disaster as far as I am concerned. There may be 'small print' about this but I was prepared to pay additional money for a trim and a blow dry but was not given the option.
I came away feeling a little bit short changed. I had booked the highlights in advance and while the highlights were done very well it was much lighter than I had asked for so was a little bit in shock at the colour- secondly, I had asked for a small trim and she did just that, took about half an inch off the bottom and it took her about 4-5minutes to do. I hadn't originally booked that, but she said she'd fit me in which I was grateful for and it didn't take long. When I came to Leave, I didn't like the way it was blow dried but I never do so I always want to go home and wash it myself anyway. However I was then charged for a full cut and blow dry £28 which I had in no way received. I will still need my hair cutting again in a couple of weeks so was a little bit in shock and would never had asked for a tiny trim if I knew how much it would cost. Also, I assume if I just had the highlights that I wouldn't walk out of the salon with wet hair so I must of paid for a blow dry twice. If the £28 was for a full cut and blow dry then my fringe wasn't even done. I had a toner on my hair but I'm not sure if that was included. Overall, I am okay with the colour but it will take some getting used to but I will have to pay for another cut in a couple of weeks. It was obvious that the staff wanted to go home as it was an after work appointment. The colour was done very well but I am disappointed with the cut. If they didn't have time they shouldn't have done it and taken my money for nothing.
