I have gone to Claudia's Hair & Beauty several times for the same service and have always appreciated the service and ambiance in the past. Given that the venue is small and modest, I have appreciated in the past their warm service and effort to make everything comfortable for what is a personal service that can be embarrassing! However, this time I was not impressed. Usually the venue is tidy and professional. I arrived and the stylist and her customer were chatting very loudly without any background music to make things a bit more comfortable for waiting clients. I was not helped or given any information when I arrived on time for my appointment. The ground floor has been re-arranged and looks less nice than before, a bit messy. After some confusion about who was providing my service, I was shown to a tiny room just next to the loud stylist with paper thin walls facing directly into the lobby and their large front window. I did not feel comfortable in any way removing my clothing for an intimate wax in that setting! I requested to go downstairs where I have always received services in the past. The beautician agreed and took me to a room downstairs. It seems the standard of tidiness and order in the basement rooms has declined. The woman who eventually came down to see me was not particularly nice or pleasant. She hardly even looked me in the eyes and did not give her name or ask me how I am. I can say that she got down to work fast and efficiently, which for a waxing can be quite abrupt and painful. In the past, the Claudia's beauticians have been nice and as gentle as possible. It helps to have a little pleasantry for these kind of procedures.... Once she was into the job, she was a bit nicer than when she arrived to the room. The job was done OK, not perfectly, but there were quite a few stray hairs and she didn't tweeze any of the left-over hairs so I had to try and manage with a bit of the wax after she left the room (messy). I will go over it at home with my own tweezers. So, Claudia's is good value for money because the Treatwell prices for waxing are quite competitive. If this was full price this review would be much harsher. BUT the difference in service between one beautician to the next will make a huge difference as to whether I would return or not. Some are absolutely wonderful, others are not. I would recommend that all beauticians be pleasant and polite to customers when they arrive and at least pretend to be nice when a customer is in pain from a waxing service. Also, it is important to at least check with tweezers to see if there are any stray hairs, even if not all are removed, it is a basic end-of-treatment service that is standard for waxing.
I've been to Claudia's Hair and Beauty a few times for a Brazilian wax and an underarm wax. Most of the times I've been its through a voucher from either wowcher or Groupon or even a discounted through Treatwell. The staff here are friendly and really so know their stuff. I find the wak finish great and they really take the time to make sure all the necessary hair is removed during the wax. Worth the price!
Would recommend, therapist was very friendly and put me an ease. Very good value for money, is basic salon but clean.
A regular client: price has gone up but not by too much so still worth it. last staff that I saw i wasn't overly happy with as she was very rough and seem to be not so bothered about doing a clean job. Still will go back as this is the only time this has happened..
I liked the place and the staff were really friendly and knew what they were doing. I would come back, thank you!
