So where a hotel is concerned I have three main standards, the bed should be comfortable, I want a hot shower whenever I need to and I want a quiet night's sleep. The beds were large and comfortable and the shower was always hot enough. The hotel is very busy and I because the double glazing is very thin, my sleep was somewhat disturbed by other guests coming and going. Where a spa is concerned I want a peaceful experience, that was unfortunately not the case. It's a popular quick stop for families so the pool is noisy and busy. Not a relaxing experience. The steam room is good, but you can hear all the noise of children in the pool. Sauna is good, same issue. There is no jacuzzi any longer. It is important to know that this hotel is on a main road and has good links to the city it is therefore very busy and the double glazing is thin and does not really block the noise out. The hotel is very dated, to give an example the curtains were frayed and needed to be replaced or stitched. The food was great and the break was good value for money! the service is a bit hit and miss for example two nights in a row we needed to ask for our wine glasses to be replaced with clean ones. Staff were friendly and hard working. It's budget, good if you need a break from your routine, would I stay again if I needed to be in Norwich yes perhaps, but for a spa break no sorry.
Good clean room, good value tasty food, staff helpful. Good pool, sauna and steam room, but no Jacuzzi any more.Quiet rooms at the back. Even though band played there on the Friday night, we didn't hear a thing!
Pool, steam & sauna were average disappointed there was no Jacuzzi. Generally slightly tired & could benefit from being updated.
Excellent value stay. £49.50 per person of which £33 was food. You can't argue with £16.50 for the room and the use of the facilities. Steam room and sauna are small but it was fine as there were not loads of people waiting to use them. The pool was nice. The food was very good indeed. I had roasted lamb rump and my wife had the steak and ale pie which was really nice and large. Dessert was Eton mess which unfortunately was covered in chocolate - my wife loved it I ate it but the chocolate was unnecessary and overpowered the cream and strawberries. Breakfast was by far the best I have had hat a chain restaurant. Excellent choice of fresh fruit and all the usual stuff.
Was great for the money. Dinner in our room was the highlight. Great food and no extra charge for room service. Only problem we encountered was the jacuzzi is now closed. Said was open on website.
