This is the second time I've been to Colour my Life, and this was also the second time they were running 20 minutes late. The hairdresser didn't ask me what colour I wanted my highlights - I assumed they would have kept a card from my previous visit. When I could smell the bleach I asked her if she was putting bleach in my hair and she said yes. I explained that I didn't want bleach blond hair - she looked panicked, then continued with the foils and said she would fix it with toner later. I ended up with bright yellow hair - not only that, but it didn't even cover my roots. After telling her I wasn't happy, someone else from the salon looked at it and said they would start again. After 3 1/2 hours my hair was the right colour on top, but I had to go back a week later for the rest of the foils and the cut.
I appreciate that they tried to fix the mistake, but I like a hairdresser to get it right first time... and to actually ask me what I want.
The stylist who did my hair was very friendly and I thought the salon was a good find until I got home and checked my hair properly in the mirror. My highlights were a different colour on one section of hair almost as if the wrong colour had been mixed up and the end result was a stripey effect but so noticeable that I had to visit another salon to rectify the situation, hence my low score.
The quality of my haircut and treatment was great and it is fantastic value for money - very cheap for both cuts and colour in particular.
But the overall service is average, it was totally chaotic when I arrived for my appointment and all stylists were running late, with no one checking on waiting customers or letting us know how long the delay would be. There was no receptionist, instead leaving the stylists to check customers in. The ambience inside the salon is okay, loud radio music and no drinks offered when I sat down and the overal decor is a bit tacky.
If you want a cheap haircut and don't mind about fancy service then it's great.
