It was my third time at Champneys for a gel manicure with my mum. We always love coming here, the staff & spa are top notch & always leave relaxed & happy.
If I was being asked to rate my treatment alone I would have given 5 stars. Rosa was amazing and it was the best massage I’ve had in a long time. She really tailored the massage to me which I appreciate a lot, and she was very professional. The environment was clean and the whole treatment experience was very relaxing.
However, when I arrived at champneys there were 6 or 7 customers waiting in the reception area to pay/check in/ask questions and there were also 2 people putting up Christmas decorations which made the whole area very busy. Subsequently I didn’t get to check in for my treatment right away, and had to wait 10 minutes to tell a member of staff I had arrived, which was after my treatment was due to start. I paid for a 25 minute treatment due to start at 11:30. I was collected at 11:36 (I had been in the waiting area for a few minutes despite the late check in) and the treatment ended at 11:55 on the dot. I’m unclear as to whether this is because the previous treatment overran, I hadn’t been checked in on time, or because this is normal procedure, but I think the expectations could be better managed. The therapist didn’t come down to see if I was waiting at 11:30, so I assume she wasn’t ready for me but what should I expect? Does everyone lose 5 minutes at the start of their massage?
I would revisit for this massage again, and it doesn’t detract from how good Rosa was but it was a shame I left feeling like I didn’t get what I paid for.
