First time to the Athenaneum Spa, the place is nice but small. The facilities are limited. Facial was OK, it is done very quickly. I think they could have taken their time more. Massage was average. The manicure was done really well. I think that was the best treatment. It is a good day out with a friend and the spa package was good value.
I took my mother as part of her 75th birthday gift and we had a really lovely day. The masseurs asked us individually what pressure massage we would like so I had a hard one and my mother had a relaxing one. The body scrub was refreshing, and the facial left our skin feeling soft and glowing. The changing and waiting areas were very clean and well thought out, there were even straighteners and a hairdryer on the side for us to use in the changing room. Towels, dressing gowns and slippers were all fresh and fluffy. We had such a great time and will definitely return.
As luxurious and decadent as ever - I will definitely go again
and again
and again
I've reccomended this to several friends, and aim to fit in a monthly visit
the weekday wahanda package here is great value
This was a great experience. Very good value for money.
The only downside is that the Spa is quite small and it is also unisex so we weren't very comfortable
Our initial visit to the spa was very disappointing. Not sure if the staff thought Oh here are some elderly women who don't know anything about spas, and having come on a voucher I am not sure how it is received. The staff did not introduce themselves, the scrub was okish , went into the shower room, no bath mats on floor or anywhere to hang your towel. The shower tray was slippery with no handle to balance. An accident waiting to happen. The body massage EXCLUDED the neck massage and working on feet. After the treatment was told help yourself to complimentary drinks. Not shown where to get them from. The health consultation form was filled in but no reference made to it at all so what was the point of that. I was highly embarrassed having talked up the treatment to my friend, so chose to constructively give feedback to the hotel manager. Apparently the spa is owned by a third party. The owner called me the following day and after discussing the points above chose to give us a complimentary treatment which we went to. Again no introduction by staff, body massage not totally completed. having questioned it they said we took too long in the shower so they ran out of time. Nonsense, as there is only one shower in the room. They again missed out the feet and legs. I would not recommend this to my fiends as have been to better spas in the UK and on my travels paying far less than this one. I think they are surviving because of the hotel brand.
