I chose this salon based on the many positive reviews here and regret to report that I have nothing to endorse those reviews. This is of course based on MY experience and to be fair, could be a one-off...though I doubt it.
I had booked a Root dye which comes with shampoo, condition and blowdry, mani & pedi, and eye broe threading.
The stylist, who I later discovered was the owner, told me that I was lucky to have my slot seeing as I had not called to confirm. I explained that the beauty of Treatwell was exactly that- all was done online with no chasing. She said that it never worked like that in her salon, that in future I must call first as the appointments go even if they are already booked. I didn't understand this and she explained that it was Treatwells fault as they kept those appts there even if there was no space . My understanding is that it's for the salon to update their booking page to which she responded that it was not, and that besides she had other booking sites, so how was she meant to keep track of them all.
Excuse me???!!
1. When I told her what i wanted, she said that there was an extra charge for a blowdry. I showed her the description for the treatment on their page and she was adamant that this was incorrect and a Treatwell issue, not hers, and that nobody had ever raised this before. I insisted that it was her page and therefore her responsibility- she made a call and came back to say that she will do this only for this time, but not again.
2. Another lady washed my hair But did not condition. I raised that and she said " Oh you want conditioning too?" - I explained that this was the description- you can see a pattern here - anyway she came back to condition. Then she proceeded to rub my hair vigorously together. Who dries hair like that? I pointed out that she was tangling/pulling out my hair; she stopped but she didn't seem to understand.
3. With my wet hair let down ( not wrapped in a towel like one would expect), she took me for my manicure.
Now the site had a mani and pedi for £16 which I assumed was mini-treatments and at a special offer due to it being a late booking. Owner returned to insist that again the wording was incorrect and a Treatwell problem as it should have been for a mani only. I let it go for you can imagine, with other clients overhearing these conversations, I was already embarassed and uncomfortable.
4. The nail bar was filthy. I had to perch at the end of the seat as it was not appropriate for the table. i couldnt get my legs under the table anyway as there were a set of rolling drawers stuck underneath.The tools were worn out and/or dirty, as were the bottles of creams and cleaners. Table and area around it were dirty. Mine was the first appt so you would expect the salon to have been cleaned the day before....it was not! She had to pull out drawers which were full of old bottles of polish clumped together. Selection was outdated. I took photos of the dirty tools etc. but I don't think there is a facility on Treatwell to upload. Nevertheless I have informed Treatwell that the pics are available if needed.
5. "Blowdry" with owner- she without combing out the knots or finger drying first, owner went straight in with a brush and dryer at high heat setting. I waited until my hair was dry enough and told her to stop
6. Eyebrow threading - she did both brows very quickly and that was that- no brushing out the fallen hair from my face or applying a soothing gel or trimming the brows.
I stood up, thanked her and left with the intention of never returning.
On the plus side, the dye colour is a match for my hair and the hand massage was lovely.
To me, the owner came across as a bully for whom customer satisfaction was furthest from her mind.
I understand that she has since told Treatwell that she gave me a complimentary blow dry (!) And that the salon's page will be updated 're the wording.
An awfully exasperating and uncomfortable experience!

Had a full body massage from Sonia. Excellent service. She was polite and professional. Would definitely recommend going to her for a massage.

I came for a full body wax. I was surprised to learn that this does not include bikini line, so I had to pay extra for that which they confirmed with me before they began. The ladies who did my waxing were very quick and efficient. I had them both waxing me at once so I was in and out in 40 minutes, which was great! They were also very nice and did a decent & thorough job. Please note that they do not accept card payments, only cash and bank transfer.
