The sugar body scrub really did make my skin feel so lovely after however I was overall underwhelmed by the spa experience, the staff were nice enough however the treatment itself felt rushed. I had booked a 25 min treatment and I was out the room in 20mins. As well as this, my boyfriend was in for a 25 mins massage and was finished early too. He suffers a lot of problems with his skin which he did write on his form however the lady doing his treatment never once asked him or talked to him about his conditions and his skin itched through the whole treatment. There was also no questions asked about the firmness of the massage and he did mention it wasn’t what he expected.
We booked a spa day on groupon so I can’t complain about the cost or the value for money. This was a lovely treat, the staff were fantastic and the treatments very relaxing. There were a few niggles, lunch was included but the menu was very restrictive. Food was ok, service in the hotel restaurant was terrible. We were the only table in and I had to ask for menus, ask to order drinks etc. No butter was served with the bread roll that came with the soup and I don’t think we were checked back on once.
Fortunately things rapidly improved at the spa. Changing rooms are dated and the robes could do with replacement but the atmosphere was lovely and staff were friendly. The jacuzzi has a warning notice that they do not recommend you wear silver jewellery, possible down to the excess chlorine levels...
All that aside the treatments we received were lovely and I do feel it was good value for money. It would have just been better if some of the niggles could have been sorted (mainly lunch).
I booked this as a treat for me and mum in March this year but was surprised how small the spa was when we arrived. There were not enough chairs and tables to sit at so we were sharing a table with people we didn’t know when we wanted a private chat and no sun lounger type seats. They were in the middle of getting new treatment beds on the day We came so I spent my “relaxing” massage listening to men grunting trying to shove a bed through a door way. The spa pool area seemed run down to me and needs a bit of a spruce up - I didn’t find it a relaxing environment at all. There were no individual cubicles to get changed in so my mum who is 79 found that uncomfortable. No slippers were provided either and we hadn’t taken any flip flops so had to walk around in bare feet. On the positive side the staff were very friendly and so apologetic about the noise during my massage and we had a nice lunch afterwards. The treatment itself was average and it cost extra to have aromatherapy oil so I refused to pay extra money and had a massage with an oil with no smell which I found wierd as I think this should be included. The treatment room itself was not very welcoming and very basic. All in all It was disappointing apart from the lovely staff and I’m sorry to say I won’t be returning.
Our stay was amazing after we had moved from room12 to room 5. Basically in room12 there was a generator/cooler unit underneath our window causing horrendous smell and fumes in the room.
Room 5 is beautiful. The meals were amazing. The spa treatment was fantastic. The negative was the restaurant and the spa/pool area was not clean enough. Too many flies and generally needed more cleanliness. However, the hotel, staff, room 5 and food was amazing just needed more staff to make the place run smoother, more efficient and cleaner.
Our visit to the spa was a special treat for my mother in law. The spa treatments and staff were fabulous. The only thing that spoiled the day was the included two course lunch. None of it was homemade or presented well. The tuna salad came with brown wilted lettuce, tinned tuna and no dressings. They would be better off serving open sandwiches or toasties.
