The treatments were fine, very disappointed with the cleanliness of the changing rooms and around the pool, lots of areas need repairs, around the showers. One of the towels we were given was dirty, the staff did change it when asked.
When we went for lunch we were given two different menus, one not being the spa day one, when I asked what the soup of the day was, I was told vegetable when it arrived it was heavily flavoured with curry, this could have been a problem for some people, I did mention this to the waitress and got told, well I was only told its vegetable, not good custom service, we all so asked for a teaspoon for the cup of tea, this did not arrive at all. Over all I was very disappointed.
I purchased 2 spa deals as a gift for my friend and I. The property itself looked lovely on arrival and well kept from the outside. Reception was clean and welcoming and the girl was polite and helpful. However once inside the spa area, our view changed. The changing rooms were ok, clean ish but could do with fixing up a little. No changing cubicles so we got changed in the toilets. Could have done with some complimentary toiletries out on display to pretty it up. These have always been available in other spas we have visited as well as fluffy towels. We were asked to hire robes if we wanted them, at a cost of £10 deposit. Again I expected a nice white fluffy robe however they were not as pleasant or ‘white’ as we had expected. On entering the pool area, it looked welcoming. The pool is not large but it’s fine for a quick swim. The pool loungers were comfortable, again not particularly clean and the floors around the pool were quite filthy. The type of floors where you had no intention of removing your flip flops or spa slippers. We were asked if we wanted a tea or coffee and waited around 25 mins for the Luke warm tea to arrive. The sauna was ok, fine as saunas go...just needed updating. The steam room however smelt very very unpleasant and looked like the seats needed a deep clean. We stepped in and quickly stepped back out! The hot tub is fine. Our treatments were done by two lovely girls, the treatment rooms were warm and welcoming, but my towel looked very dirty. We had upgraded to the collagen Facial and paraffin wax hand treatments at a cost of £12.00 extra each. I felt if we hadn’t upgraded to these, I don’t know if the treatments would have been able to last 10 mins each, never mind 25?
Afternoon tea was nice, could have done with more sandwiches and a teaspoon for the tea. Asked several times for this but yet none appeared. We left soon after and as this was a gift I felt bitterly disappointed with our spa experience here. Needless to say, I will not be re-visiting, nor would I recommend.
The staff are always friendly and helpful and the treatments are amzing and worth the money paid alone. The restauramt has moved from facing the garden to the other side of the hotel facing the car park (slightly disappointed at that as preferred view at other side of the of hotel and the new restaurant was formerly a walkway) but the food more than made up for this and was very tasty and the guy serving was very friendly and helpful. Lovely place, lovely staff, great treatments, spa facilities great with new conservatory and sun beds and food was lovely. Great value!!
