Lovely day despite some confusion over the booking. The availability of tea and coffee with breakfast would have been nice but apart from that the day was lovely and relaxing, the treatments were all lovely and the staff were very professional and welcoming.
Starting with the positives - the treatments were lovely as was the lunch apart from the fact that the computer and phone are outside the door where you get your massage - not very relaxing listening to someone on the phone. We were told to arrive 9.00am - 9.15am so arrived at 9.10am to find the staff washing the floors, we were making sure we didn't slip or trip over the wires. Also, we didn't realise the changing rooms were "mixed". "Breakfast" consisted of a basket of croissants (nothing to put on them), 2 small bowls of fruit and 1 small bowl of flapjacks for 4 people. If you wanted tea/coffee you had to go downstairs to the relaxing area then carry it back up. We had to ask for plates and napkins. The cups for the tea/coffee were lying upside down on a draining board and had been there for days as the spa had been closed for about 4 days due to a birthday trip. Jacuzzi was nice but getting in and out for my elderly mother was a problem as there was no hand rail and she nearly took a tumble down the stair as there were no markings to distinguish between the stair and floor. The worst thing was that after using our towel all day, we asked for a dry one at about 2.30 and was told that you only get one towel. After seeing the look on my face, she offerred to put our towels in the dryer. For goodness sake, there were a handful of people in the spa, surely they must have had more towels! There are too many niggles to mention - get your act in gear Secret Spa - there's too much competition!
Me and my daughter visited The Secret Spa today as part of our joint birthday celebrations. We booked a full day spa with one hour treatments and it was AMAZING!
Upon arrival at 9am we were greeted by one of the beauticians, Kimberley who was very friendly and showed us around the spa. Kimberley had our breakfast prepared in the snug room along with our fluffy bathrobes, towels and slippers... it looked fabulous!
We then had full use of the spa at our own leisure with unlimited tea/coffee and could wander to our snug room to continue to pick at our breakfast if we wished. We both had our treatments throughout the day; an ESPA body wrap and ESPA personalised facial.
Kimberley was our beautician and she was sooooo friendly, attentive, understanding and extremely professional; it was an absolute pleasure to meet her and she was so gentle when carrying out treatments which immediately put us at ease (especially with the body wrap). Kimberley is an absolute credit to The Secret Spa as I felt she attended to our needs all day; I felt it to be a very personalised experience from the time we arrived until we left.
We had an afternoon tea for lunch which was equally as tasty/fabulous with a glass of prosecco, again prepared by Kimberley, then continued to relax the remainder of the day in the pool, jacuzzi, heated loungers, steam room and sauna before leaving at 4pm.
I highly recommend The Secret Spa for a more ‘personal’ spa day and we will definitely return. I found it very good value for money and we had the spa to ourselves for most of the day as it was a weekday which was a bonus.
Thank you so much (especially Kimberley) for rounding off an amazing birthday week and for reminding us just how important it is to relax! We will be returning!
