Visited Whittlebury Hall with a few friends for an overnight getaway. First stay but it won't be my last - fantastic value for money. Rooms excellent, food excellent, facilities and treatment excellent and staff were all very friendly and helpful. We're already looking for an excuse to make a return visit!
On the day we visited the heat and ice experience area was very very busy so we couldn't fully relax. Lunch was ok and spent rest of afternoon in large pool area which was quieter . Think the place could do with a bit of attention in places . overall just an average experience .
This is not (in my opinion) a quiet spa retreat for couples that want to escape. You tend to get groups of ladies in the sauna's and pools, chatting and laughing, a few at a time sometimes. and the pool seems to be open to the public and is, at certain times, busy and noisy. The pool also had black mould on the ceilings around the pool area, this has put me off going again. More of a place to go in groups. The staff are very friendly and helpful and cant do enough for you. Some areas there didn't seem to be enough of them around to deal with the amount of customers. but always helpful and polite staff. The treatment was fine. This is also very very close to silverstone, the day i visited there was racing there, so moving form noise in the spa to more louder noise in the hotel room didnt go down well. The food is very average. It is a very good value place to go, i paid a low price and got what i paid for.
Sadly I found Whittlebury Hall Spa a bit depressing. It is the best thing about a very mediocre hotel. They do packages with food and sadly in order to make it work financially they cut corners particularly with the food. The massage we had was good, we were treated together in the same room, the relaxation room was basic but okay and the dry float bed that is hidden away upstairs is well worth finding. However the changing rooms were basic, no cream or nice 'spa' touches, the gym had flashy but hard to use equipment, the fake trees and plants aren't fooling anyone and the spa pools were very busy. If you are staying the hotel is totally souless and depressing. The food at dinner was awful, cheap badly cooked bits of meat.. would recommend you don't stay overnight. breakfast was okay.
I've visited Whittlebury a number of times over the last few years. I love the whole set up with the spa attached to the hotel. It's a great location set in lovely grounds and easy to travel to from London. The spa staff are always fantastic and I feel I receive good value for money in a beautiful tranquil environment. I always book for three days/two nights to get the most out of my time, there are usually offers running to make this quite affordable although one or two of the rooms were a little bit small. The massage was great, I had this on the morning of my first full day so really got the benefit and could let go of the stress and tension in my shoulders. It was the second time I'd had the Rasul treatment, it's great as a treatment for two as gives the opportunity for a bit of mud slinging and softer skin afterwards!
