The hotel is lovely and spa was very relaxing. All food was very good. Staff are extremely polite. Only downside was the description of spa facilities makes it sound better than it actually is but for what I paid it was still worth it.
To be honest this was me and my friends first visit to a spa so nothing to compare it to Was anxious about the treatments having never had a facial or massage before but the lady was lovely n i felt so relaxed and almost fell asleep which for me who is a very stressed and wound up person was fantastic ! Thought the overnight spa break including evening meal and breakfast was really good value and really enjoyed my stay
The spa did not ask for sizes for the complimentary slippers and robe therefore my wife's friend was left barefoot and uncovered. The hotel room was dusty and strewn with cobwebs and the electrical appliances, in paticular the kettle, had exposed wiring and the safety certificate was out of date by over a year. The dining room was just as unclean as the bedroom. All of the duty staff spoke English as a second language so inter - staff chat was not in English which my wife found perturbing. It also led to some confusion over ordering and there was no one present to resolve the language issue. Overall it was a complete waste of money that ruined a gift experience for my wife.
A great value package deal. Afternoon tea was ok, nothing special, nothing bad. Evening dinner was superb. Spa facilities were brilliant, only a few pairs of people were in the spa so space wise, it wasn't too crowded. Lovely relaxing break for a friendly catch up. Only downside was that we had a shower that was literally dripping with water. The receptionist was less than helpful to the situation and not very forthcoming with a different room with a working shower. Fortunately we found the duty manager in the late evening, who eventually gave us access to another room with working shower! Have stayed here before though, and was absolutely perfect then.
The venue was lovely, with a really chilling out atmosphere, and overall we had a great time. The afternoon tea was a letdown though, as it was the first one I have ever had that did not include cakes, it just had a selection of sandwiches, and scone with cream/jam no butter, and we didnt think it was very good value. Cakes could be bought for an additional price. The staff were really friendly and couldnt be more helpful. The need to pay for everything up front - morning coffee/ on the day treatments/cakes for afternoon tea - meant we had to troop back and forth to our locker to get purses, and we were asked when leaving if we had paid for everything! It woudl be better if a locker number was allocated on arrival, and when you order something you could show your locker key and pay the full bill at the end. The spa facilities were unique and great, so we will probably be back!
