The hotel felt very exclusive and up-market and we were even offered a reduced upgrade which was great. The room was perfect other than the air conditioning which kept on turning on really high during the night. The spa was absolutely fantastic - great facilities and we also enjoyed a really decent spa treatment as part of the deal. The real negative which has brought this score down was the restaurant and food. Despite its great location the restaurant seemed incoherent with the rest of the hotel, the tables and decor were odd and the food was well below the standard you might expect. The menu was very basic, we had to send back a mackerel terrine as it was packed full of fish bones, both of our main courses - fish and beef were well over-cooked and dry and the dessert was extremely sour. The wine list was over-priced and sub-standard. Breakfast was also a disappointment.
When we arrived there no record of our reservation. Luckily there were spare rooms available, the staff were really friendly and they upgraded our rooms as an apology for the inconvenience. The staff in the spa really went out of their way to be helpful, as we arrived late to our treatments due to the problems with our reservations, and had not been able to check into the room before our massages. The breakfast was also really good as there was so much to choose from.
The venue is actually really small which makes it of not such great value sadly. It was difficult to get to the venue and to find it. The afternoon tea was great though!
Lovely experience, a hidden gem. The whole experience was great. It started with a massage which was one of the best I have had. Me and my mum then enjoyed a few hours in the spa. Although the spa is small it is just what you need to relax. To add to the day I loved the relaxation room. This had 4 comfortable loungers, headphones, range of healthy fruit and nut snacks, a large variety of teas that you make yourself and lots of girly magazines. Relaxing in here in your gown, slippers post massage and spa was amazing. Lovely mum and daughter day. Highly recommend. Just to warn drink prices upstairs in the bar gave us abit of a shock, but to be expected in such a lovely hotel.
Everything was absolutely amazing - one of the best spa days I have ever been on! We were greeted warmly by the staff on arrival and shown round the lush facilities. The spa itself is so lovely, it's fairly small but that makes it a bit more cosy and intimate than most. The pool and surrounding area was exactly what we were looking for, the lighting and ambiance of the pool, sauna, steam room, heated beds etc. provided plenty of options for relaxation and indulgence. The chill out space (again small but lovely) was immaculate and the decor beautiful. You could make your own tea of choice, help yourself to healthy dried fruits and nuts, refresh with bottled water, lay back on the loungers, relax with some music or immerse yourself in the range of magazines provided. Pure bliss! The treatment itself was fantastic - my therapist was excellent, she listened to what I want and explained everything she was doing, the only issue I had was that it didn't last long enough! Overall a fantastic experience and overwhelming value for money - I'm already looking at booking again!
