Great gel manicure! Looks good and lasts, love this place
love getting my eyelash infills here
This was my first ever pedicure and I was excited to have my first experience be a luxury treatment in time for my holiday. However, my experience of Selfish was completely bizarre and incredibly unprofessional. I'm not sure if the team hate each other, or hate their jobs, but it was strange. My sister and I had both booked appointments for pedicures, they were half an hour apart but we decided to have lunch beforehand and arrive together. My appointment was later and I was fully expecting (and happy to) to wait in the waiting area until it was my time, however, the receptionist/salon manager offered me the option to sit with my sister until my appointment - which was super lovely and appreciated and also where the bizarre situation begins. Selfish isn't a very large salon at all, there are a few tables running along the side of the room for nails and then at the back of the room there is space for three chairs to have pedicures. Of the three chairs, my sister was led to the left and the receptionist/salon manager said that I could sit in the middle next to her - great! However, this has evoked a reaction from my to-be beautician, who's started shouting across the shop: don't sit her in the middle, I don't want to work in the middle. The receptionist has replied, they're together, it's so they can talk, to which the beautician has replied: they can talk across the chairs, I'm not working in the middle, don't sit her in the middle. If requested, I would've sat in the further chair, but was told to sit in the middle. I quickly popped to the bathroom and also sort of hoped this weird dispute had been fixed whilst I was in there. However, I come back and I am now going first as the beautician who was meant to do my pedicure refused to do my nails whilst I was sat in the middle of the row? Now for the next hour, this beautician has muttered under her breath/had a bit of a moan to her current client, rolled her eyes at us and generally been pretty rude. All in all, throwing quite a strange, unprofessional and really uncomfortable tantrum because of where her colleague has led me to sit. My beautician was lovely, I am really pleased with the way my toenails look, however, the whole experience was incredibly uncomfortable and my beautician kept telling me to relax which was really difficult with how the whole event began and continued. For my first pedicure where I was already a bit nervous, it just really created a horrible and awkward ambience. I'm not sure if the staff just really don't get on, if this is normal for them or if they were having an off day but I've never experienced anything like it in any other salon/ever. We chose Selfish based on their overall reviews, but after actually reading through some of the reviews, it doesn't seem like this experience is a one off. Would not recommend Selfish to anyone, which is a shame as my replacement beautician was lovely and my toes look/feel great.
Lovely staff as always!
