Lovely relaxing environment with a friendly and professional therapist. Will definitely return and the opening hours are very convenient. Really enjoyable.
Great girls night out package in lovely relaxing surrroundings Pure Spa has friendly staff, I will definately be back again
A lovely atmosphere at Pure Spa and the staff are very attentive and friendly, it was lovely and warm in the room where I got my eyelash extensions The manicure are was a bit cooler and although they didn't have enough polish fro the colour I chose I was happy with the end result
I visited the Pure Spa Aberdeen today and have come away very disappointed to say the least. The therapist was really nice and friendly, I cant fault her, but the two treatments I had have both come out unsatisfactory :( I had a girls night out package which consisted of a manicure and a set of individually applied blink and go lashes. Upon entering the spa, I was asked to sit on the sofas in the corner for a short time. I found this relaxing and took a moment to have a look around the spa. I noticed a group of about 6 therapists all chatting away inside a doorway behind the main reception desk. There weren't any therapists on the spa floor. There was one other lady waiting for her treatments on the adjacent sofa to mine, I am not sure how long she had been waiting for, but we both waited for around 5 minutes and then a therapist came and took each of us. I was shown the way to one of the treatment rooms to have my lashes done first. The room was very stylish and relaxing and the decor was very good quality. I was asked to lie on the couch and the therapist then started to apply the lashes. The whole treatment took about 20 minutes and everything went fine (or so I thought..). I was then taken to the main spa area to have my nails done at the nail bar. Again, conversation was fine and the therapist was really friendly. As far as the manicure went, the therapist first shaped my nails. She shortened a couple of my nails too far back so some of my fingers were showing above the nail. I really didn't like this, but thought I would stay quiet as it was done now, and she couldn't fix it. I also noticed that the filing was done in a double right and left motion, which I found to be very unprofessional. At home when I have manicured my own nails, I would not file them in both directions at the same time (especially very fast) as this would just rip and tear the nails and shorten them far too much. The therapist then applied a tiny amount of hand cream and massaged my hands one by one for about 3 seconds each, then wiped the cream off of my nails and began applying the base coat of varnish. Next the first coat of colour was applied immediately after the base coat. I was a little wary that layers of varnish were applied so quickly together, surely a couple of minutes in between each coat would have been more advisable? even if it is quick drying polish. I also noticed the bottle of nail varnish appeared to have quite a dried top layer of polish around the rim and the varnish looked thick and gunky, the layer of varnish had also not been thinly applied. A second coat of colour was then immediately applied, followed directly by the top coat. I was then asked to stay in the salon and let my nails dry for 30 minutes. I sat there gazing at the front window and lost all track of time and kept getting pins and needles in my legs from the position I was in perched at the nail bar, and it wasn't until the lady next to me said that it was 16:20 I realised I had been sitting there for over 50 minutes without being approached by the staff to say I could go. I had overheard the staff member who was manicuring the lady next to me say that the lady had to wait for 10 minutes to let her nails dry before leaving. I had been told to wait 30 minutes and had also not been told when that time had elapsed.. I had also noted the lady next to me had a 5 minute hand massage on each hand, not 3 seconds like mine, surely they can't vary this much? The therapist had also applied the lady's nail varnish layers consecutively like mine had been done, and filed the nails in both directions quickly, so it might be a standard procedure at the spa. Next I approached the main reception desk and finalised my transaction at the till and exited, going straight to the ladies toilets in the shopping centre where there is clear lighting. I looked at the lashes in the mirror and it appeared I only had half a set on each eye. They had been applied to the centre and inner of the lash line but not to the outer ends? I was a little shocked and thought the purpose of lashes was to extend the natural lash line slightly and make your eyes appear wider. I also noticed the lashes were barely visible and not too different to my own lashes and were not obvious at all, which I was a little disappointed with. I then looked at my manicured nails and noticed that the right hand was fine, but on the left hand, all four fingernails were slanted, this was very visible and did not look professional. I then went to a couple of shops and then looked at my thumb nail on my right hand and there was a big chip in the middle of it. I also noticed that a number of hours later the tips of a couple of nails had started to show and the colour was already coming off. I can only put this down to the way the varnish was applied so thickly and without any drying time between coats. All in all I am very disappointed with the treatments, like I said the staff are friendly and the spa is very nice to look at but the treatments are the most important factor for me. There is also a lot of noise and chat in the spa and this echoes as its quite open plan, so there is not a peaceful ambiance as you might expect from a spa, but it still nice and pleasant to visit. I would visit again, but I would explain to the therapist very clearly what I wanted and ensure my guidelines are followed to avoid and future disappointment. One other thing I would like to note is that the young receptionist at the till appeared to be the most hard working of all staff. She was consistently dealing with the enquires and customers and was very professional and helpful and I would give her an A*.
Entered the spa as a tired, dull and stressed individual .....Left feeling young, energetic & Rejuvenated!! IR spa warm & sweaty expereince...unusual to conventional sauna or stream room. 1/2 facial felt like an hour, truly fantastic. Highly recommend it!!
