My nails look ok. There was a mishap with the glitter top coat I had, it was cracking so it was redone. My main concern was the lady who applied my extensions. I tend to be quite particular about my nails, though I am never rude. I don’t know if she had a problem with me or something but as soon as it was time for me to go and pick a colour, she completely disappeared. I wanted to ask her about the rose gold colour she told me about, but I couldn’t. She had run away. Another lady took over and the one who was working on me previously resurfaced to do someone else’s nails. Have left feeling quite offended, will never go back again.
I guess my complaint isn't really with this place because, bizarrely, shortly after booking I received a text from the person I booked with asking me to go to a different salon because they were double booked... I checked then and again when I arrived that this other salon could still do gel extensions rather than acrylics, which I had paid extra for because they are safer, better for the nail and more eco-friendly. Both times I was told yes, I was getting gel extensions.
Unless I've managed to miss a revolution in which gel became powder and didn't need UV light to cure, I did not get gel extensions, I got acrylics. The therapist used powder and liquid to make the overlay, just as she did for the girl next to me - who had paid £5 less for acrylics - and the fumes smelled. Never at any point was any UV light used. She did a great job, but it's not what I paid for and it wasn't at the salon I paid for it to take place at. Having reviewed the booking on Treatwell I can see they call it 'gel powder extensions', but from googling quite a bit I can see that doesn't exist.
