I booked on treatwell for a wash and cut for 26 quid - for medium/long hair (the only other option other than short). Salon seemed nice and buzzy when I arrived, all the customers in the seats seemed happy. There was some confusion upon sitting down as the lady cutting my hair told me I'd have to pay 45 pounds because my hair was long (it's not quite boob length) and I'd selected the medium hair length when booking. I told her there were only two options - short and medium/long. It transpired in the end she thought id booked for a blow-dry too, which has three lengths of hair bookable. Obviously their mistake with their booking system, I booked through treatwell and told her I was there for a wash and cut so maybe she didn't hear me properly. I wouldn't have minded the confusion but she and the manager were quite angry and rude at me until they realised their mistake. The manager to his credit apologised and waved it away, but the lady cutting my hair continued to seem quite pissed off - not the attitude you want with a woman cutting your hair! I was actually trying not to be a bit teary when I say down after the wash cos you dont really expect people to have a go at you in the hairdresser. I kept trying to make conversation and crack jokes but she didn't seem to lighten up until the end. She remarked that "it wasn't really a wash and cut since that meant a trim and it wasn't really a trim since I have layers in my hair". I have thick wavy hair, I know this, but I've never had a hairdresser struggle to brush out my hair after the wash so much - I wouldn't mind but she didn't seem very happy about it! Dont know if she wasn't used to cutting thick hair - most hairdressers I've been to brush from the bottom down with a tangle teezer etc first but she went in brushing from the top with a boar bristle brush and a tiny toothed plastic comb. I suggested a tangle teezer might be better and she did get one, but I noticed all the brushes they were using seemed to have existing damp customer hair in it, which I found a little unpleasant. In the end she said she couldn't cut my hair wet and would have to dry it with a hairdryer to complete the cut. I did eventually walk out with nicely trimmed hair, and they did charge me 26 pounds (I was worried they were going to insist on charging more since she 'had to ' use a hairdryer), hence I gave them three stars. All the other customers in there seemed like they were having a great time, so maybe I was the anomaly. Then again all the other women in their had straight fine hair! A tip to the salon if they read this is: sort out your treatwell booking system if you can't work out what people have booked for correctly, advertise it as a a trim not a cut if you only want to trim hair without layers in it (also I thought a trim they can trim off the end of your layers you know?). Also if a customer has thicker/wavier hair than the average blonde straight haired woman, maybe act a bit less annoyed! To be fair the lady was a bit smilier by the end, but overall it was a slightly uncomfortable experience.
