I went for a haircut and blow dry on a Saturday. The salon was very busy and didn't feel very relaxing. You can make yourself a cup of tea or have a glass of wine from the fridge, but clean cups, spoons etc were in short supply. The whole waiting area was a bit grotty and unclean, as was the toilet!
When I was eventually called for my appointment, everything was fine. I think I got a good, basic haircut and my stylist was very pleasant.
Overall it was convenient and fine for the price, but didn't feel luxurious or relaxing.
Generally the place was good; the treatment itself was good in that it looked great immediately afterwards. However, though I apprecaite it is not permanent, I felt that it didnt last particularly long at all after washing my hair - my hair is really think though so i don't know if this was the reason.
Also re: value for money, since i bought this deal i have seen many more deals offering the same treatment at a lower price.
I visited Lisa Shepherd London salon for the first time after having bought a 50% off voucher from Treatwell. I was slightly worried whether how would the whole experience and treatment turn out because I was on a deal - I really shouldn't have worried. I had a full head highlights done and I am extremely pleased with the result, which is the most important thing. I was slightly annoyed that they charged an extra £10 for drying hair when on a deal, but that was overall a minor issue. The service was prompt. efficient and friendly enough without being overbearing. Jamie who did my hair was quick and competent. The salon itself is comfortable with free hot and cold drinks, as well as ipads and laptops for customer use. Personally I would have preferred a slightly warmer decor and more comfortable seating in the waiting areas, but it's the hairdressing skills that really matter! I also got a discount voucher for my next appointment, so thumbs up!
Very disappointed with the entire experience. Booked a color, treatment and cut via Groupon. After a 3.5 hour session, spent mostly waiting around, I left with a below average cut and was given a half-hearted apology. Also the fact that you have to do a skin test 48 h before your color (as safe as it sounds) it's a hassle one could do without.
Am just wondering whether Lisa Shepherd know what's going on - I know she is running a business but accepting Groupon offers, only to treat people like 2nd class citizens cannot be good for business. I hope she is oblivious to her staff behavior - though I guess it's her job to know and train them properly.
My advice - don't bother with or without Groupon/Treatwell, spend your money somewhere else where you'll be treated with respect.
I bought a voucher for a Brazilian Blow Dry as a birthday treat for my daughter so this review is her experience and not mine. She was told at the salon that she needed to use a special shampoo that was 'sulphate free' after treatment (she didn't know this before) and that if she didn't then they couldn't 'guarantee' the treatment. So not wanting to waste the process she decided that she would buy the right shampoo from them before she left. At the end she asked about the shampoo, was shown a couple of the brands they stock but they couldn't sell her the right shampoo as they didn't have any in stock. She searched online for advice re shampoo to buy and many sites said the shampoo had to be 'salt free'. Rather confusing. Not helped by the fact most shampoos have 'Sodium Laureth Sulphate' as a major ingredient. Even some organic shampoos have sodium/salt in them so she found a sulphate free shampoo with no added salt as her best bet. Treatment is supposed to be formaldehyde free but there were times the fumes were pretty strong and made her eyes water. A month later her hair is straighter then it was before but she still has to iron it smooth.
Although the facilities were good, she found the atmosphere a bit snooty, like having a discount voucher was not quite as good as being a 'proper' customer' and she says she probably wouldn't go out of her way to go back again. She still thanked me though:) Tip: remember to get yourself the right shampoo beforehand. Hope that helps.
