The venue upstairs where the hairdressing takes place is very modern and trendy with high end appliances etc. For the beauty treatments downstairs, it is a different story - crampt little room more like a cupboard and outdated decoration. I went with a friend for microdermabrasion facials and we booked on Treatwell using the timings available - 7.15 and 7.30 - thinking there would be a slight overlap and we could get dinner together afterwards. We arrived and waited upstairs and my friend was called down first (beautician was15 minutes late for her appointment). I then waited for about another half an hour until I went to the reception and asked what was going on. She informed me that they only had one machine and so I had to wait until my friend was done until I could do mine. How this basic thing was missed and they put appointments at 15 minute intervals on the website I don't understand!!! Very frustrating and a basic mistake. I then patiently waited for about 45 minutes until my friend came out of her appointment. There was then another wait of about 20 minutes because apparently they had to clean the machine. I find this hard to believe since I have subsequently looked online and the crystal clear machine isn't cleaned, you remove a disposable end and attach a new one which takes about thirty seconds. The receptionist was not bothering to check on me so instead I had to repeatedly go and ask what was going on. I then finally explained that this was unacceptable and she finally apologised and said that they'd give me a second treatment for free. My friend then left to go home because it was getting so late and ridiculous. After a wait of well over an hour, I was finally called down to my appointment. As I mentioned - this is in such a small broom cupboard which just about fits a bed and a sink in it so it's not for the claustrophobic. The beautician has very poor English (she explained she's from Romania) and did not bother to apologise to me or explain what had been going on. She then started the treatment which was extremely disappointing - the crystal clear machine she had wasn't working properly and she kept having to stop to try and fix it. The only result from the treatment I received was a bright red face from where she just started scratching the pen across my face as the machine wasn't working and no stream of crystals was coming out. The whole thing was a complete joke. At several points I asked what was going on and she didn't reply or muttered something in broken English. She then applied cheap perfumed moisturiser which just made my skin break out the next day. There was no initial consultation, no review of my skin or what I wanted to achieve from the facial and the treatment itself didn't work properly. I basically just laid down and she scratched my face with a plastic pen for half an hour before putting moisturiser on. Such a disappointing waste of money and the way I was treated was appalling. I could not more strongly hope to warn some of you on the internet NOT TO GO. I was given a free second treatment but obviously didn't bother to go. Traumatic and would never step foot in that place again.
This was my first time to Muse of London and I wish I had gone sooner.
I loved the decor of the place- very funky and loved the personal touches such as being able to help yourself to a drink and a great selection of magazines when you enter.
I had a cut and blow dry and was really happy with the result. The hairdressing team were lovely and very welcoming, and really listened to what I wanted. i will definitely go back
