The treatments were excellent, really effective and the lady who conducted the massage and facial was lovely. However there was swimming lessons for children in the pool that was part of the spa so it wasn't very quite or relaxing as I was trying to keep out their way as I could.

Firstly, this isn't a spa. It's a hotel swimming pool and gym with two treatment rooms.
The therapists we had were superb. They are clearly trained very well and the treatments we had were just lovely.
Lunch was also very nice and it was good to relax in the bar area.
The 'spa' itself though is very old and very tired. There is no relaxation room and the steam room was out of order when we were there. We went to relax by the pool but there were back-to-back children's swimming lessons there. It was so noisy that when we had our treatments the therapists turned the music up full-whack to try and drown them out - not very relaxing!!
We also had to pay to hire robes and slippers which I've not experienced before. We were spending £150 between us on our 'spa day' so it seemed a bit unnecessary!
I'd recommend this for the treatments if you're already staying there, but there are far nicer places to try if you're not.

Great value for money but no where to relax between the sauna / pool / steam room and treatments. The pool was too cold. When having my pedi my heels weren't scrubbed although my friend's were. The varnish was also too thick so smudged 2 hours later when I put my shoes on. The massage was lovely although I could hear the music from another room as well as everyone on the pool. The changing rooms weren't great. My gym has nicer facilities. It's more a basic gym rather than a proper all day spa. Id go for a one off treatment if it was local to me but not for a spa day again. Staff were lovely though.

Not so clean, no atmosphere at the pool, steam room dirty, floor dirty, but massage good, facial really really good.

We have to say we were really disappointed with the "spa day" experience. We were given treatment times of 10-11 for our two 30 minute treatments. I was 5 minutes late due to massive road works on major roads into the venue (not being local I was obviously not aware of these, I do not expect the venue to be responsible for this, but when I called and they asked us to be there 20 minutes early a heads up could have been a good idea). However once I arrived staff were very friendly however I was moved through for my massage, which ended up being 20 minutes long and talked throughout so not *too* relaxing. I then moved for my manicure. The manicure was great, until I had sat and waited for 20 minutes afterwards for it to dry. We then went to use the rest of our "spa day" facilities. The swimming pool was being used for childrens' swimming lessons for the entire time we were there, although when we did try to sit in the pool on the steps to experience the pool it was like an added Jacuzzi due to the children learning "kicking" on the steps. This left just the sauna and steam room, both which could only comfortably sit 2-3 people and there is only so much time one can spend in a hot box. And also "melted my nail polish" (it may be an idea for the experienced beauty staff to suggest the manicure first so this doesn't occur to people) After an hour of alternating the sauna and the side of a noisy pool we admitted defeat of our "relaxing spa day", got changed and went for lunch. Lunch was included, and we had pre-ordered for 12.30. Despite lunch being 15 minutes late, when it arrived it was good, and staff were friendly and accommodating. Essentially the day was disappointing due to the fact that the facilities did not enable a relaxing spa day and so should really not be advertised as such. A supplement is charged for a weekend, however this actually reduces what can be used (i.e. the pool due to childrens swimming lessons).

Spa manager was very accomadating considering we was 15 mins late they still let us have full amount of time in treatments. It wasn't packed so we always able to use the spa at our own pace.
Only downside is the steam room wasn't working and there was not a jacuzzi. However the manager informed me that it is due for a refurbishment soon so I asume this would be all fixed then.
Very relaxing morning in a lovely central hotel in Oxford would highly recommend

I was disappointed by my treatment here. Although the therapist was polite and professional, the massage was poor and certainly not what you might expect at this price. The treatment room had an adjoining toilet which was dirty. Disappointing experience.

I bought the one day spa break with massage. While the hotel, staff and food were great, the spa really wasn't. The spa was small and dirty, there were chipped tiles in the pool and they had ran out of robes- we waited for them from 11.30-18.00.

Breakfast and dinner were great and the room was adequate. However, I was not impressed by the spa. The swimming pool was small and there were swimming lessons happening for most of the morning and afternoon so there really weren't enough room to swim. The whole spa area was dirty, which was surprising considering the other areas of the hotel were nice and clean. My friends and I had the massage which was good but it really wasn't an hour long, more like 45 mins.

Excellent massages and service but this takes place in the context of a busy family friendly hotel so the atmosphere isn't particularly relaxing, the food was great but the cleanliness/appearance of the steam room and changing rooms could definitely do with an upgrade.

Had an absolutely lovely stay at The Oxford Hotel.
Staff was very welcoming and they even changed the time for our treatments because we happened to be a little late. Because we booked a squash court for next morning they let us check-out later on without any extra costs even though the hotel was fully booked on that day.
Superb holiday! highly recommended. Food (dinner and breakfast) were also great!

Lunch was fab, the beauticians were so lovely and you get exactly what is described. The sauna was great and the gym was very well equipt.

excellent spa break. enjoyed every minute of the massage and facial. hotel great too. would definitely go again. only problem was that it was difficult to find a slot for the treatments as they get very booked up so if you book last minute there is no choice of times

Where do I begin!!
My daughter and I had the misfortune of attending The Oxford Hotel spa on Saturday last for her birthday and what a disaster it turned out to be.
On arrival at the spa reception we were informed that one of the beauticians was unavailable and another finished at 3pm which meant that our two hour treatments would now have to be cut to one hour. When we expressed our disappointment we were told that a member of staff had tried to call us and when I checked my phone I had missed a call 8 minutes before we arrived. We were not impressed but decided to settle for the one treatment but expressed that we would both like to be together (in the same room) whilst having our treatment. I might say that the young man who dealt with us was most professional but not once did we receive an apology or explanation from the so called Spa Manager Peter who remained in his office.
Following a workout we decided to visit the steam room which we found to be uncomfortably compact!!! We then proceeded to the pool area where there were only 4 loungers which were occupied so we had to sit on the steps of the pool. On entering the pool we found the water to be very cloudy and not at all clean. At this point we decided to have our lunch and look forward to our treatment.
On arrival at the spa we were asked to choose our food from the lunch menu and asked where we would like to sit - we suggested the bar area. When ready we sat in the bar area for several minutes and finally a member of the spa team who was walking past told us that we needed to let the staff in the coffee shop on the ground floor know that we were ready but we hadn't told this on arrival. We decided to sit ourselves down in the coffee shop area to make it easier for the staff to find us and decided to have a glass of wine whilst we waited.
We spoke with the waiter informed us that this wasn't possible because the bar was closed and wouldn't open until 4pm - not helpful. Again disappointed, we sat back and awaited for our lunch whilst taking in the busy hustle and bustle of a hotel reception/eating area. Our food arrived and we settlemed back to enjoy our food but no such luck as we were approached by a large dog (greyhound) who was eyeing up our food. We were a little shocked to say the least a dog roaming around a hotel reception area whilst people are eating and young children wandering around, not what you would expect to find in a so called 4* hotel but by this time we were not surprised. You seem to running a very laid back establishment.
So far the day hadn't lived up to our expectations at all so following lunch we returned to the spa in eager anticipation of a relaxing treatment. We were met by two very pleasant young ladies who proceeded to guide us through to the beauty room. Unfortunately my daughter was led one way and myself another. I asked the therapist why we weren't together and she said I quote "oh there was no note on your records to say that you wanted to be together". My daughter had a similar conversation with her therapist at which point my daughter, came into my room looking very upset and said she'd had enough the day was totally spoilt for her and she wanted to go. I felt very upset for her but had to agree that from start to finish our special day had been ruined.
At this point the therapist directed me to the spa reception where she was going to process my refund. She informed me that the elusive Spa Manager, Peter Cullery had gone to the main reception to acquire an 'over-ride' card in order to process my refund. Eventually he returned, asked for my card and performed the refund. At no point was I offered an explanation or offered an apology. The man just didn't seem to care what happened either way.
On leaving I was informed by another member of your staff that this sort of thing happens on a regular basis and on checking the reviews on Tripadvisor it would appear she is correct.
I am not the sort of person who complains easily but my daughter and I had been looking forward to our day together and we were bitterly disappointed. The manager there clearly doesn't care about the service offered and clearly makes no attempt to improve the situation and ultimately this can only reflect badly on your hotel as a whole. I certainly won't be recommending any of my family, friends or colleagues use these spa facilities until things improve.
