Good experience but average Brazilian blow dry as the product use is too soft for people with frizzy hair and staff can complain about the length of your hair...
My hairdresser was amazing and spent ages in my consultation, I felt she really cared what the final result looked like. This place is a diamond in the rough as it doesn't look like the most stylish place from the outside, dont be fooled! Would 100% go back, thanks so much!!
Only a tiny salon but I really appreciated the time that the hairdresser took to cut my hair - wasn't rushed at all and she was so precise ! Usually around London I'm used to a quick dry cut in and out but House of Spitalfields even gave advice on something as basic as a trim! Would go back!
I am writing this review 2 days afterwards, so believe me that I processed my emotions and what you are reading are cold facts and memories.
Very small place. Lady that had her longer treatment done had to give up space for me to do the quicker gents cut, the wash was interchangeably cold & warm water. When I showed picture of my destiny haircut my hairdresser made big eyes and did not look like they know how to execute but the reality is she only had to cut my sides with a fade as I needed to grow the top to achieve my destiny haircut in a long run.
Eventually with lots of hand waving, jumping side to side for one jab of hair here and there and all together not confident body language connected with one, small talk attempt, closed question, she achieved faded sides with some holes here and there. Never showed me the back and how it's finished. After I said I'd like to style it to the back, I received a front back mix with a fringe split in the middle fading to sides in an arc. I looked at it and I reminded myself when I was 11 years old, trying to use gel on my hair for the first time ever to mimic the way one of "The Backstreet boys" looked like in 90's. Reading this, you are probably thinking why I did not tell her to change it etc. I just could not do it. I had this capacity and space within to let her unfold and show me how does she thinks I should be styled. I believe that in the end what we all need from a hairdresser is them to take care of our hair, cut it, style it and make it look amazing without us interfering with their art. That's what I did. Show them my vision, the picture, and let them unfold. Trust them and their inner knowledge of style and looks.
My hair never looked as bad after hairdressing. Normally I would not wash my hair for 2-3 days afterwards, as I usually loved the way they are styled so much better than my home made everyday blow dry. This time I felt bad coming back home and washed it straight away when I reached my shower. My girlfriends comment after I send her my selfie video straight after the cut was "wtf...". She said I should tell them it's total disaster and that I wanted the money back. The truth is all I wanted to do is run away and never look back.
The staff: The hairdresser looked fairly ok and professional, but the desk staff apparel and her all together appeal was something that gave me a "run away" impulse first thing when I reached that place before haircut. The only thing that made me stay was the fact that stupidly enough, I already paid for service upfront and was not allowed for refund so I forced myself to stay and hoped it will be fine, it's just the sides fade, I thought. The staff was using a mix of English, Ukrainian and Polish language (I know as I'm Polish) to communicate. Sometimes louder shouts through the space to send their message across (the desk lady). I find mixing language an impolite behaviour and I feel bad knowing that an English person's experience is most likely similar as they don't know what is being talked about in the heart of their country, the Capitol, London.
