I asked for a double instead of a twin bed and they forgot to connect. They had no fresh towels for using the Spa. The towels on the massage table table were wet so not fresh either. Which is very unhygenic in my opinion. Definately not a four star hotel.
Great spa package, nice and relaxing!
Sadly I was a little disappointed form my visit to Horizons Health and Beauty Spa. It was a young girl who carried out my treatment and whilst she was nice and chatty, she wasn't the most professional, loudly announcing my arrival for a wax infront of a male colleague who wasn't part of the spa team. The spa it's self is also a strange layout, we clients having to walk through the centre of a busy gym before reaching the treatment rooms. Unfortunately the actual was treatment wasn't the best either, I left with a rather patchy wax... However I appreciate I should have expressed that I wasn't satisfied at the time.
Loved the staff and the massage was really really nice. I've been on a few spa days and this isn't what i'd expect from a 'destination' spa day. The whole day seemed to be us thrown in with a hotel guests, businessmen having meetings, and people who are members. The massage was great, lovely woman was very skilled and knew what she was doing. The beds were heated which was a bonus, and the music was very calming and relaxing. However, I could hear the treadmills and gym activity, and music all the way though the massage, as I'd had to walk through the gym to get treatment room. The 'manicure' was done in the same treatment room, using the same towel which covered my body during the massage, as a sort of nail rest/desk thing, and it was not on an actual manicure, it just a nail paint, with no pushing of cuticles, filing or actual manicure involved. Lunch was included so when it came to lunch we were excited, and unfortunately were disappointed when we were asked to go into the hotel bar, in our robes, which was a very big juxtaposition against the well dressed business people having meetings. However, the voucher entitled you to £13 on the menu, which bought us a very generous steak sandwich was lovely. Again, brilliant service from the bar staff, and lovely food. The changing room was very small and cramped, and once again we were thrown in with the members, elderly, mums with their children, with no real relaxation and calm. There was no relaxation room, so once we were done in the gym, pool, and treatment, there was nowhere to go other than to leave. Overall, it was a very good treatment, and was great value for money, yet I wouldn't return for a relaxing, destination spa day.
No complaints. The food was great. Nice clean hotel and back massage was amazing.
