Hi, I’m Emma — owner and stylist at Home of Hair. I work from my newly built, home-based garden salon just outside Stanway. If you love the feel of a professional salon but prefer something more private, cosy and personal, then my home salon is the perfect space for you. I’ve been a hairdresser since leaving school — it’s something I’ve always had my heart set on. Despite people trying to talk me out of it, I followed my passion and completed a two-year apprenticeship with Toni & Guy. During this time, I trained while working on clients and completed the final stage of my training programme in London. Although I was based in the Colchester salon, I gained experience across multiple locations. Over 13 years, I worked my way up through the levels to become a Staff Trainer, NVQ Assessor and Tutor. This role allowed me to travel across Essex and Suffolk, supporting apprentices in achieving their qualifications — just as I once did. In 2020, I took the leap into self-employment and created Home of Hair to achieve a better work–life balance and focus on the areas of hairdressing I’m truly passionate about. Since then, I haven’t looked back. After renting chairs in a few salons, I realised working independently allows me to give my clients a more personalised experience while keeping things economical for both of us. I specialise in hair colouring and believe the right colour perfectly complements a haircut and enhances your overall look. That said, I pride myself on being versatile and confident across all aspects of hairdressing. One of my latest qualifications is in hair extensions, including nano rings, micro weaves, tapes and micro rings. Extensions can completely transform confidence by adding length, thickness and shape in the most natural-looking way. I also love being part of weddings. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working at many beautiful venues, and there’s nothing more special than helping someone feel their absolute best on such an important day.
Sophie has been a qualified hairdresser for over 20 years. She has spent the majority of her career working within salons, building a loyal and successful clientele in Norwich. After taking the opportunity to explore different business roles and spending some time focusing on her family, Sophie is now returning to where her true passion lies — hairdressing. She is currently looking to rebuild her confidence, expand her skills and refresh her knowledge with the latest techniques and trends. At the moment, Sophie is welcoming models only, as she continues to grow and refine her craft. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone happy to support her journey while receiving professional services at a reduced rate
