Arrived at 11.00 to use spa facilities. Treatment booked for 1.30pm.
Only told at 1.25 pm that a man would have to do the treatment or we would have to wait another hour for the female employee.
Totally unacceptable and the manager was very rude. He warned us against any negative feedback and would not let us re-book for another time stating that we were being discriminatory against the male member of staff. He couldn't see why we had a problem with this option despite the fact that his female employee had just asked if we had a problem with the man carrying out the treatment.
The manager said he wouldn't support a refund if we went to the third party to request one.
They had ample time to tell us about this when we checked in for the day and perhaps the treatment could have been carried out earlier by the female.
They need to make it clear when a booking is made that a male employee may carry out the treatment and ask the customer if this would be a problem.
Would not recommend this hotel and spa to anyone.
Overall a lovely romantic spa break, however wifi is charged, pool water is a little colder than I expected, food portion was a little small, chocolate dipped strawberries in the room were lovely but only got four of them..seemed fewer than I expected for a 4* hotel. Positives: food was quality and tasty, staff were helpful and friendly surprisingly since many reviews I recently read were negative about staff, good value for money especially as breakfast was lovely and a good choice.

Can't fault the hotel, the staff and deal we got for breakfast, evening meal and room. We relaxed all day around pool, reading and dipping into sauna and steam room. In the evening enjoyed an amazing meal whilst being entertained by a singer playing the piano. Chocolate strawberries and fizz in hotel room on arrival. Romantic touch. Will go back. Only drawback is got to book treatments when you book room as they go quick. Plus hotel is opposite a business park so don't expect amazing views from your room. Need car to go nice places which are not far way.
Great value for money. Delicious food for the evening meal, great bedroom, very modern. The pool area welcomes families, so expect children. Overall, very good value for a little night away, and easy to get to by train.
