Once again it was wonderful. Holly is as good as Mary, they really are a treat, such perfectionists when it comes to the gel manicure. I am delighted and Holly also repainted my toe that I smudged. The staff are superb and so hospitable offering me tea I cannot wait to go back for my next appointment. I have told numerous people what a terrific salon it is.
I booked balayage, wash, cut, blow dry and Olaplex treatment, and had the worst salon experience of my entire life! This spoiled my day, weekend and I'm dreading my trip next week as I have no time to deal with this disaster. So, here's what happened:
After booking my appointment earlier this week, I was looking forward to today (especially after reading a few good reviews). I arrived on time this morning just before 10am, however, my appointment was 40min late (I was offered coffee whilst waiting and the man at the reception was quite friendly). Eventually, my appointment started around 10.40 when the stylist came over and apologised about the delay, claiming the lady before me "had too much hair" and her appointment took longer than expected. I said it was ok as I didn't want the delay to spoil my experience - little did I know it would go from bad to worse from that point on.
I explained what color I wanted and showed several pictures of the desired result for balayage. The stylist went away to consult with a colleague and in a few minutes came back confirming and explaining what she was planning to do (which sounded like the desired result on a picture I showed earlier) and so she started the colouring process.
It's worth noting, that when I booked my appointment, I specified in my registration form that I'm booking a style director for the entire appointment - I ended up being attended by 4 different people and I have no clue whether those people were senior stylists, style directors, trainees or anything in between as the whole experience was a right mess.
After the stylist coloured half of my head, she left to attend another client and asked her colleague to finish the rest. The new lady looked like she had no clue what she was doing and was so rough with the brush, my scalp is still hurting even though it's been a few hours post appointment. This was especially painful and felt like a slap on the face since I explained before the appointment that I'm trying to be careful and restore my hair after the damage done by a harsh medical treatment I went through recently.
Once the colour was done, stylist two proceeded to do the wash, toner and Olaplex treatment, with the first stylist coming over from time to time to give guidance. Again, the whole thing was harsh and painful.
After this stage, I was left waiting for my cut and blow dry for about 10-15min. Looking in the mirror, I could already see that the colour was 2-3 shades darker from what we agreed (went from platinum blond to chestnut brown and a lot of dirty brownish blond, whilst we originally agreed on a mix of light brown root and a lot of warm blond throughout). At this point I started feeling devastated about the result, but still had a slight hope that after the hair dries it'd look much different.
A new stylist (3rd person) came over saying she'd be doing my cut and blow dry (perhaps, the most expensive 5min trim I've ever had!). When she finished, stylist number one came over and I told her the result was totally different to what we've agreed on - I was left with quite a distinctive dark root and a bunch of dirty brown highlights with a little bit of blue tone to it, which, trust me, is not balayage and definitely not the warm light brown and blond colour that I originally asked for (I was almost crying at this point).
Stylist number one and new (fourth) person started persuading me how great the colour was and that it will "wash out" in a few days and will look like the colour I want. I was also offered to do another toner to make the colour warmer, but at this point, because the appointment took more than an hour longer than planned, I was running late for an event and couldn't stay for colour correction. Plus, because the whole colour/technique used was so poor, I can't see how a toner would save it - I'd need to go and re-do the job at another place after my trip next week (which makes me feel so devastated, as I'll be hating the way I look for at least 10 days before I'm able to correct it).
Poor, messy experience, bad balayage technique, very expensive for the quality of the job (also, misleading as what is claimed to be a discount on Treatwell is actually a standard price as per salon's website price list).
