We had the Revive spa day for 2, and ate in the hotel bar restaurant and opted for the 2 course lunch, which was nice, but not amazing. The menu was rather limited, with only about 4 main course options, one of which (the one my wife wanted - fish & chips) was not available. Service was very friendly, but very slow, and the restaurant was pretty cold, which was a shame on a cold February day, we were hoping for a cosy warm retreat from the weather, but didn't quite get that.
The spa facilities are clean and well kept, but not extensive, and we found it strange that there are no toilets within the changing rooms, so you have to go out of the changing room and down the corridor to the toilets, and none of it is very warm.
The facilities consist of a pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room. The pool is a good size and very clean, but why can't it just be a degree or two warmer?! When you're treating yourself to a spa day, surely the last thing you want is a cold pool! Cold is probably a bit harsh, but it was certainly an "Oh" instead of an "Oooh". There are only about 6 loungers, and they don't have any cushions on them, so not especially comfortable to sit on for long.
The jacuzzi was a great temperature, but just has vertical sides, rather than being sculpted for comfort, so again, not brilliant for relaxing in for very long.
The Sauna and steam room were perfectly good though, exactly what you'd expect, no faults there at all.
We were both very impressed with our treatments, really good, one of the best I've ever had.
If the whole building had been warmer in general, (including the water in the pool), and there'd been some cushions on the loungers, it would've made a big difference. But overall, the Revive spa day for 2 is good value, we paid £55 each, so to get a good 2 course meal, a treatment plus a couple of hours in the spa is good, but you'd have to accept it's at the budget end of the scale.
Excellent massage with professional, pleasant and thorough person. Very relaxing and helped my stiff muscles. She concentrated on areas I had problems with and was very responsive and friendly. The room was peaceful and had a relaxing ambiance. It was comfortable and clean as far as I could tell in low lighting.
The waiting area could be nicer, no magazines/water, at the bottom of the staircase by lift. Nowhere to relax after treatment. The pool and steam rooms looked clean and the pool was a good size. The lockers are worn and dated and the changing room could do with a makeover.
I was staying at the hotel and just wanted a swim and a massage so I was very pleased and happy with the facilities. Not sure if I would feel so positive if I had come for a spa day with friends unless there are areas to relax that I didn’t see.
Laura focused on doing the tinting & shaping which I appreciated. I would have preferred a thicker brow though, she should have asked first. I appreciate I should have checked but assumed she would follow existing line distribution. I will be wiser next time.
