The 16 pictures convincing us to go bold with our next ombré

Published on 3 October 2018 - Last updated on 19 December 2025 by Beth Ryan

Fashion Week has been doing some serious inspiring for the last few weeks. Rainbow was one of our favourites, with a 90s Troll-like vibe electrifying a huge number of catwalk shows.

Kaleidoscope colours in various styles have left us tempted to revisit our salon for a twist to our usual chocolate-brown dye job. But if all-over colour is too much commitment, ombré is your answer. Fusing darker toned locks with a burst of acid bright (or subtle pastels, inspired by Marc Jacobs), makes the look a whole lot more wearable.

We’ve worn colour in every which way for the last few years (calling out the pastelage trend a while ago), but with the colder season upon us, we’re taking any excuse for a freshen up. So here it is – a curated selection of just fantastic hair, courtesy of those we’re stalking on Instagram. You’re welcome.

    FAQs

What is the latest hair colour trend inspired by Fashion Week?

The rainbow hair trend with a 90s Troll-like vibe is taking over this season. Bright kaleidoscope colours and bold styles have dominated recent catwalks, bringing colourful inspiration for anyone considering a hair makeover.

How can you try colourful hair without a full commitment?

Opting for ombré is a great way if all-over colour feels too bold. Blending darker roots with acid brights or subtle pastels makes the look more wearable and less of a permanent change.

Can you choose pastel hair colours for ombré styles?

Yes, you can pick subtle pastels for ombré, taking inspiration from designers like Marc Jacobs. This gives a softer twist on the trend and makes vibrant hair colour more approachable for everyday style.

What is a popular way to refresh your hair colour for colder seasons?

Adding a twist such as kaleidoscope colours or refreshing with ombré is popular as the season changes. Many people look to add vibrant or subtle new shades to brighten their look during colder months.
