    The best stylists to follow on Instagram

    Published on 21 June 2018 - Last updated on 19 December 2025 by Beth Ryan

    Sure, we should never be slaves to social media, but I spend 99% of my day on Instagram, so I may as well impart my ‘who to follow’ wisdom on someone: you. From sharing their evening skincare routines, to smoking-out Selena Gomez’s eyeshadow, and feeds filled with an eclectic mix of all things ‘cool’, these are the Instagram accounts to be following right now.

    By Rachel Spedding

    • 1 The French expert: Violette

      Estée Lauder’s Beauty Director, Violette Grey, has me hunting out the kitchen scissors for a quick fringe trim on the reg’. Her easy how-to videos, and perfected Bardot hairdo are enough reason to hit follow. Though her skincare routine is intricate, with a myriad of products involved, every tutorial feels achievable, and a little like your best mate teaching you the way (that’s my kind of influencer). Follow Violette for makeup tips, motivational quotes, and a seriously satisfying product-filled feed.

      @violette_fr

    • 2 The high-glam artist: Hung Vanngo

      That picture of Selena Gomez is saved in my camera roll at least twice. Thank you, Hung Vanngo (or Vanglow, coined by Mark Townsend, stolen by me). Renowned for fresh skin, pillowy lips and the softest smokey eyes, Vanngo is an artist by definition. You’ve no doubt seen his work on Emily Ratajkowski and Kendall Jenner, or just infiltrating your insta feed daily  – if it isn’t yet, it should be.

      @hungvanngo

    • 3 The skincare connoisseur: Katie Jane Hughes

      Beaming skin, bold lips, brushed-out brows, if that’s your kind of jam (obviously), head full-speed to Katie Jane Hughes’ Instagram account. Her airbrushed aesthetic is anything but, just a mighty-strong skincare routine and a few years of know-how. The self-professed ‘friendly beauty enabler’ balances barely-there, with striking statement looks. Peruse her page, and hunt out your vaseline, cos’ you’ll be testing out those glossy eyelids all evening.

    • 4 The mani-enabler: Madeline Poole

      A nail genius, Poole is a self-taught manicurist from LA and the Colour Ambassador for Sally Hansen. She dominated the scene when nail art became a ‘thing’, and crested the wave of all nail trends, working with high-end publications and global brands. Her own instagram page (@realmp) is a collection of colour and good vibes, while stalking her nail page (that’s @mpnails), will end only one way: you booking a manicure, and choosing neon green polish.

      @realmp

    • 5 The iconic artist: Pat McGrath

      I’ve heard em’ say that Pat McGrath MBE revolutionised makeup. Yep, never was a truer phrase said. The British makeup artist thanks her mother for her love of beauty – a woman who’d hop in the bath after applying a full face of makeup, to add ‘dewy glow’ (love the dedication). Having launched her own eponymous makeup line in 2017, Pat McGrath Labs, there’s no denying she puts the art in makeup artist, featured on catwalk shows and in fashion campaigns. Follow for endless inspiration and an archive of aspirational editorials. Oh, and loads of glitter.

      @patmcgrathreal

    • 6 The hair expert: Renato Campora

      The LA-based hairstylist Renato Campora learned his trade trough his father (owner of a salon in Italy), and is now one of the most sought after hair stylists in the industry – think Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Jessica Chastain’s go-to guy. Above all else, his Instagram feed is a treat. An eclectic fusion of editorials, celeb spotting, and heaps of Lea Seydoux, you’ll want to change up your hair look on the daily, courtesy of Campora.

      @renatocampora

    • 7 The millennial model: Jessica Wu

      Alright, so maybe I’m biased here, but Jessica Wu is one of the faces of Glossier, and anyone associated with the millennial-pink-skincare-brand-of-dreams is on my radar. Wu is a producer and stylist, but moonlights as a model. Her Instagram feed is a collective of powder puff cheeks and candid shots. If I was still a print-out-and-scrapbook kind of girl, my pages would be filled with Jessica Wu.

      @jessicazwu

    • 8 The campaigner: Naomi Shimada

      Last but not least on my list is Naomi Shimada. She’s no makeup artist, hair expert, or nails influencer, but she is an activist, helping to scope the shape of the beauty industry, and she takes pride of place on my ‘best of’ list. She’s fronted campaigns for Monki and ASOS, and has a fabulous wardrobe, FYI. You’ll feel like she’s your friend through following her Instagram, and chances are, if you met her, she probably would be.
