Quick, we just spotted sunshine – drop everything, whip off your tights, buy a bbq, burn your knitwear. Spring is here. Feel the need to prep your pins for the outside world and free your feet from hibernation before going al fresco? Here’s what I’ll be doing before packing away the opaques.

1 A good scrub down
If I can squeeze a bath into my evening routine, then pass me the bubbles ’cos I’m jumping in. Luckily for me and my pampering preferences, a quick soak is the ideal way to prep your skin for springtime: the heat will open up clogged pores for some heavy-duty exfoliation. Get to work with your favourite exfoliant, concentrating on tougher areas (heels, I’m looking at you), to remove the dead skin. If a quick fix is all you need before the ‘big reveal’, give dry brushing a try; rub firmly in circular motions before hopping in the shower and reap the silky smooth benefits. Or… allow the salon to do the hard work for you.

2 No coat required
Each to their own on hair removal, but getting under the duvet, legs freshly trimmed, basking in my baby-softness is probably when I’m at my happiest. Waxing and sugaring can help hair to grow back finer, and more sparsely with regular upkeep, and should last up to six weeks – taking us right through to ‘summer’ when we’ll probably need to bring the tights back… So long to ye olde faithful razor, I’ll be opting for the longer-lasting solution to remove my extra layer this spring.

3 Sandals, we missed you
I’ve had a pair of sandals waiting to be worn since the summer sales of ’17, and chipped nail varnish isn’t going to stop me now that the sun is beaming. Pedicures are my easiest treatment to justify, and I know I’m not alone in sprucing up for spring. Cracked heels are fixable folks! If you’ve ignored your feet throughout the colder climes, a callus peel will help. Patches, loaded with softening acids are applied to your feet, then scraped away to reveal softer skin. Pass me the flip flops, I’m going in.

4 Have you been away?
No friends I have not, but I won’t be trying too hard to convince you otherwise. From wedding prep to picnics in the park, spray tans are a dream for the bronze hungry among us, and can last up to two weeks if you prep properly and nail the aftercare. Pre-treatment deep exfoliation is essential for a long-lasting colour, so prolong your sweet golden tone by moisturising daily. The spray tan booth calls; Superwoman pose at the ready.
