Five emerging nail trends we’re dying to try

12 November 2019 by Beth Ryan

2019 has been a pretty great year for beauty trends. We’ve relived the 90s, gone in on the glitter and rhinestones (thanks to Euphoria) and made our brows bushier than ever. There are only 50 days left of this year – and decade (!) – but it’s not over yet. We’ve lined up a whole host of emerging nail trends to try before the year is out (and into 2020).

By Beth Ludolf

  • 1 Seaglass Nails

Remember jelly nails? These are like the sophisticated older sister. Nail pro, Jessica Washick created the sea glass trend as an ode to last summer’s jelly nail craze. Swap candy-colours for more muted shades (greens and blues look great) and finish off with a matte topcoat. All grown up.

  • 2 Swirl tips

The 90s beauty renaissance has revived even the most dated of trends; namely, the French manicure. The 2019 take on French? Switching up the colours and shapes for a more modern look. Neutrals have made way for brights and now the classic tip is getting a little wavy. Much fresher, non?

  • 3 Two-tone

Picking a colour is hard. I always end up torn between two colours, writing a mental pros and cons list for orange vs. pink. Not any more, two-tone nails are trending. Compliment or clash your colour choices – but trust me, there’s a reason people say ‘red and green, never to be seen’.

  • 4 Pearl-embellished

We’re officially entering party season which means any excuse to be extra is completely valid. And for that reason, we’re adoring everything with pearls. Everything. Give nude nails that little something extra. Pick an accent finger or go ‘more is more’.

  • 5 Mismatch nail art

We’ve been wearing mismatch nails all summer – the natural progression? Mismatch nail art. Not only does it give serious nostalgia vibes, but a different design on each finger is also pretty much guaranteed to brighten up those gloomy winter days.
