There’s a serious 90s renaissance going on right now – it’s influencing everything from fashion to hairstyles. And now nails. Beyonce and Bella Hadid have both been sporting the classic French mani, need I say more?
2019’s take on the French mani is cool enough to make you forget even your schooldays’ most tragic DIY-jobs – ultra-thin, wobbly tips *shudders*. Switch up the colours and nail shape, or add nail stickers, for a contemporary twist.
While a bright white mani looks great with deeper skin tones, a milky shade is perfect when tans fade (or if you’re scared of that tipp-ex look). Layer for an opaque colour or keep it sheer for a more natural finish.
Make a bold statement with your hands – granted, nail art isn’t as hardcore as knuckle tattoos but at least it’s mum-friendly. Choose your words wisely (10 letters max), pick a font and let your nails do the talking.
We’re already huge fans of marble bathrooms (chic) and marble cakes (delicious) so marble nails were bound to be a hit. If you like it classic, use white for the accent colour, or go with contrast colours and metallics for something different.
There are two types of people in this world. People who get mani’s religiously and those who don’t. If you don’t, negative space nails are for you. Get a design on the top half of your nail – incorporating your natural nail – without having to worry about regrowth. Revolutionary.

2019 has been a pretty great year for beauty trends. We’ve relived the 90s, gone in on the glitter and rhinestones (thanks to Euphoria) and made our brows bushier than ever. There are only 50 days left of this year - and decade (!) - but it’s not over yet. We’ve lined up a whole host of emerging nail trends to try before the year is out (and into 2020). I’ve had a lifelong love affair with nail art. In my teenage years, I’d dip my nails in vodka and press newspaper on them. I was obsessed with the infamous Barry M crackle polish (not to mention carefully-dotted Tipp-ex polka dots). Nowadays, nail art looks a little more advanced. The breakout trend filling our feeds? Wave nails. Wave nails combine bits of all the best nail trends we’re sporting at the moment. They’re like a softer take on geometric - fluid waves rather than straight lines - with all the colours of mismatch nails and the longevity of negative space…View the board
With a New Year comes new responsibilities, and if this season’s nail trends are anything to go by, it’s time to up your manicure game, big time. Whether it’s accenting your mani with rose gold wire (yes, you read that right), blooming botanicals or even a piercing or two a la Kim K, your fingertip forecast for 2017 is looking anything but drab. And whether you go down the minimalist route or prefer something a little more OTT, one thing’s for sure; achieving an A-list manicure is best left in the hands of the experts. Not sure which one to nail…Read more
