9 Coachella festival beauty trends you need to get on now

The arrival of Coachella means one thing: festival season is well and truly upon us. And even if like most people, all you got to do was oggle at everyone else’s sun-drenched pics all weekend and get a serious case of insta envy (or ‘No-chella’ as some like to call it), this A-list event is always a great forecaster of festival trends to come, and the perfect way to keep a close eye on this season’s up and coming hair and beauty looks. Recently it was a slightly different breed of festival, with a luxy, laid-back vibe that Cali girls pull off so well. • 1 Braids braids braids

  It’s not a festival until you get to see some serious braid action, and this year Coachella did not disappoint. From fanned out dutch style braids to mini plaited partings and heavily embellished french ponies, people are getting even more creative when it comes to their updos this season, and it looks like this boho hair trend is staying firmly put.
• 2 Statement eyes

  From tinted mascara and eyeliner to graphic eyeshadow shades, statement eyes were huge at Coachella this weekend – a trend directly influenced from looks we’ve seen on the runway recently. Featuring bright blues and turquoises to bold greens, bright pinks and reds, we predict these vibrant lids and clashing lashes will be trending all summer long, so why not get warmed up now and give this look a test drive at your next party?
• 3 Glitter galore

  Glitter, at a festival? Not exactly groundbreaking, but this season people managed to get even more experimental on the sparkle front. From lips to eyelids, hair to fingernails, getting your shimmer on during festival season is a serious right of passage, though this year it was given a modern twist. Glitter roots are officially out – now it’s all about pairing it back. Think a low key glossy lid or subtle cheekbone sparkle. Use it to enhance rather than overwhelm. Take note ladies!

  Whether it’s a chain embellished braid, unicorn extensions or grunge-inspired hair piercings, hair bling is still an all time festival favourite, and it doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon. The best thing about this trend is that you can go as crazy or as understated as you want – go full pelt with an acid green wig a la festival queen Kylie Jenner, or keep it cool with some clip in glitter strands. Just stay away from flower crowns, they've been done to death!
• 5 Nail extensions

  Forget the uber grungy vibes of festivals past – this year long, perfectly polished nail extensions adorned the hands of just about every stylish festival goer. From Hailey Baldwin to Ashley Graham, our favourite celebs have ensured that 2017’s summer festival trends will be far more luxurious and pulled together. Sure, super long talons may not be ideal for Glasto, but file them down slightly and they’ll finish your festival look beautifully.
• 6 Luxe tans

  Flawless tanned skin seemed to be a prerequisite if you were attending Coachella this year, but if like us you’re not building up a base tan in Cali anytime soon, then getting a subtle spray tan before your next festival will ensure you glow all weekend long. And once you’ve hit the perfect shade, why not complement your complexion further with perfectly matching lids? Many did just that, and finished their look with what’s being newly coined as ‘tan eyes’. Fresh, simple and easy to pull off, it's a #nofilter look if we've ever seen one. Get your natural palettes at the ready.
• 7 Pastel hair

  From multicoloured unicorn tresses to a low-key rainbow balayage, pastel hair was out in full force at Coachella this weekend. Whether you match it with a buzzcut or billowing curls, there’s few haircuts that can’t pull off these candyfloss shades, but what set this stylish look apart from last year's pastels was the perfectly styled, not a hair out of place finish that was paired with it. And with many salons offering temporary wash out colours these days, it’s now easier than ever to achieve your festival dream hair.

  Along with on-point hair, skin and nails, no 2017 festival look is complete without a pair of fluttery lashes to match. The A-listers and style-savvy festival goers came out in droves this weekend sporting fresh, natural looking lashes to match their festi-luxe makeup looks. If you plan to book in with your lash lady before your next big weekend, be sure to go for mink or russian lashes for a more toned down, but long lasting look.
• 9 Space buns

  From Jess Hart to Poppy Delevigne, space buns were spotted so much at Coachella this weekend that many are saying they’re officially the new flower crown. Easy to rock in a multitude of ways, whether you sweep up all your hair into two buns, do a half up half down job or combine them with a modern middle braid parting, they’re fast on their way to becoming the updo of the summer.
