What is the Dermalogica ProSkin Advanced treatment? It’s a facial - but, like, a really good one. According to Hannah, the most effective technology suited for your skin will be selected on the day, from hydradermabrasion to improve tone and texture to LED light therapy to brighten and boost collagen. Plus, deep cleansing with active ingredients (the good stuff), and loads of relaxing stuff too - think facial massage, deep breathing and hot towels. Oh, and it’s 60-minutes long (the perfect time to decompress). What happens during the treatment? One of the (many) good things about the ProSkin Advanced facial is that it’s fully…Read more
It sounds odd to say you don’t know your own skin – after all, you’ve had it your whole life – but lots of people still don’t know how to properly care for their skin. It can be darn confusing, which is why a little professional help never goes amiss. That’s where Dermalogica comes in. We caught up with Hannah Barnes, Dermalogica skin expert, on why their Face Mapping® skin analysis is so helpful.

What is a Face Mapping® skin analysis appointment?
Basically, it’s an opportunity to get to know your skin, with a professional. “It’s a quick and easy way to identify and understand your skin type and the condition of your skin,” Hannah told us, “our skin experts can then prescribe you a personalised skincare regimen which will help you achieve your skin goals”.
What happens during a Face Mapping® skin analysis appointment?
Well, firstly, your skin will be cleansed (to ensure safety). Your therapist will then discuss with you what you’re looking to achieve with your skin. “They will consider all factors that could be affecting your skin, from your lifestyle habits to your current at-home routine, to help you reach that goal”, Hannah told us.
What’s the outcome of the appointment?
“There will be lots of skin science chat during your appointment so you can expect to leave with a much better understanding of your skin and how to properly look after it”, Hannah explains. Don’t worry about taking notes, you’ll receive a follow-up email with your Skin Fitness Plan outlining your goals, skin analysis results and product recommendations (including when and how to use them).
Will my appointment be safe?
“Absolutely,” Hannah confirms, “your safety is our number one priority”. Dermalogica therapists have been trained and are Dermalogica Clean Touch Certified. “Before your appointment, you’ll get a call to run through some Covid-19 screening questions then, upon arrival, you’ll be talked through the advanced safety protocols we’re taking to ensure it’s a ‘Clean Touch’ environment”
How often should I come back?
Hannah recommends booking a Face Mapping® skin analysis around 4 times a year so that your skin therapist can review your Skin Fitness Plan and make sure you’re still on track to achieve your skin goals. “With regards to professional treatments, monthly appointments are a surefire way to accelerate your skin results”.
