2021 Brit Awards: best hair & beauty looks

12 May 2021 by Beth Ryan

Without being too dramatic, is there anything better than a red carpet? There’s just something so magical about admiring the drama, the fashion, the insanely extra hair and beauty – and all from the comfort of your couch? Winner.

And let’s be honest- in a year where the closest thing most of us have had to dressing *up* is putting on clean joggers to pop to the shops (just me?), last night’s Brit Awards were a more-than- welcome injection of some major glam into the year.

Because it’s the Brits, the vibe was all about fun and extravagance – with the hair and makeup looks definitely following suit. From Dua Lipa’s typically show-stopping look, to MNEK’s dreamy pastel hair (and matching eyebrows – seriously drool-worthy), this red carpet did not disappoint.

Here are our favourite hair & beauty looks from the night.

    1 Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa’s *stunn-ing* look was definitely a stand-out last night. Her draped pink blush was almost Marie-Antoinette-esque, whilst her 60s beehive updo channeled the legendary Amy Winehouse. Weird combo? Maybe. Did we love it? Absolutely.

    2 Griff

‘Rising Star Award’ winner Griff wore an ombre of this season’s major ‘it’ colour, lilac, stippled from her hairline to her forehead, and iridescent tears embellished each cheek. Her pin-straight hair was adorned with an ethereal wire and crystal veil, and honestly? We think this is what a fairy would look like IRL. Magical.

    3 Billy Porter

Billy Porter went full-on drama with his head-to-toe black look, which he paired with an equally dramatic smokey eye and matte black lip. The look was topped off with a tiny crystal on the inner-corner of each eye. Witchy-vibes, but make it glam.

    4 Maya Jama

Maya Jama showed us how to channel this year’s hottest makeup look, with brushed-up brows, a glossy lip, glowy skin, and perfectly placed blush. She dialed up the look to red-carpet-ready with a soft smokey brown eye and winged eyeliner, for a classic (but still ultra-glam) vibe.

    5 Mabel

Mabel also showcased some of 2021’s biggest makeup trends, with her brushed-up fluffy brows and glossy nude lips. Her curly blonde-to-auburn updo was the perfect compliment to her striking look.

    6 MNEK

MNEK was head-to-toe flawless in luxe pastels. He matched his baby blue suit with (a very 00’s) shimmery blue shadow, and wore his hair in a short pastel pink crop, with matching pink brows to boot. So gorj.

    7 Raye

Raye went for major Hollywood glam, with a bright red lip, killer lashes, and a classic waved hairstyle. Marilyn, is that you?

    8 Rina Sawayama

Rina Sawayama wore the most dramatic lavender gown, which she paired with equally dramatic winged lined, a lush pearlescent shadow, and a long milky white manicure.

    9 Griff (Again)

Okay I know we already gushed over Griff’s first look – but she delivered two (!!) insane looks, so here she is again. This time, she wore an ah-mazingly extra oversized bubble braid embellished with a silver chain, and showed us the meaning of ‘hair envy.’

    10 HAIM

Okay, so the HAIM sisters didn’t go for the extravagant look – but nobody rocks a ‘no-makeup’ makeup look better than them – and they looked tres chic whilst doing it.

    11 Little Mix

Little Mix stunned in angelic white gowns, whilst all opting for glowing skin and a neutral palette with their makeup. Each also incorporated braids in some way: Jade opting for extra long braids, Leigh-Anne sporting a braided pony, finished with a mega stylish blunt chop, and Perrie going for super subtle face-framing braids and a tousled natural wave. Perrie and Leigh-Anne also debuted their baby bumps together – too cute.

    12 Celeste

Celeste wore a diffused, soft cat eye look, paired with a soft red lip. The real showstopper though was her perfectly styled afro hair, adorned with an angelic-looking ostrich feather headpiece.

    13 220 Kid

220 Kid killed it (in the best way possible) with his cropped hair in neon pink and blue leopard print, and incredible matching mani.

    14 Arlo Parks

Arlo Parks' lush wine-coloured shadow matched perfectly with her sleek metallic suit and iconic auburn hair. Tailored, sophisticated, and incredibly cool.
