Classes such as Step, Zumba or Aerobics will help you to burn calories but the class that really does burn calories and fat is Spinning. It is an amazing cardio workout and it will giving lovely toned legs and a smaller bottom. For definition, Body Pump is a great class and some classes only last 45 minutes. Aqua aerobics is also good for toning. Circuit classes are an excellent whole body workout because it incorporates a cardio workout with weights/body weight to tone the body. Go along to these classes with the intention of giving it your all each time and you will get results. Persevere and be patient. It usually takes 3-4 weeks to start seeing a difference and usually people give up before then. In order to lose weight you need have a well balanced diet as well as doing exercise. Fad diets are a no-no because they are bad for your health and once you come off the diet you become heavier than you were previously. Instead look at your portion sizes and the times of day you eat because little changes can make a big difference. Avoid processed food and take-aways, reduce your alcohol intake and aim to do some form of exercise at least 3 times a week. Good luck!!

Ps: something that is currently working for me to keep slim is to have a hearty soup for dinner instead of a normal meal. If you combine grains like rice/barley/quinoa with pulses like lentils/beans/peas you get a fulfilling meal that combines carbohydrates, protein and healthy fibre. You will feel the benefits in the morning if you know what I mean...

Interval training together with light weight, fast rep resistance and free weight training. Treadmill, cross trainer, rower, stepper, bike, in fact any cardio for interval training. Warm up sports specific on the machine of your choice, settle into a comfortable cruising speed then up it to a sprint you can sustain for 30 to 60 seconds, take it back down to your cruising speed for a 30 to 60 second recovery. Continue this for up to 20 minutes lengthening your intervals as you increase your time on machine, up to three times a week. Alternate this with free weight and resistance training, 2 sets of each exercise low weight 20 reps, using low weights at a steady fast pace will keep you burning fat for quite a few hours after you have finished your workout. Make sure you keep your posture and form correct while performing your free weights. Although these workouts aren't classes they can be done with a training buddy if you like and are definitley quick, 30 minutes including warm up and stretches. Alternatively pump classes are great for combined cardio and strength. Make sure your stomach is better before starting anything too strenuous. Hope this helps.

Hi Hayley I would try something like circuits or kettlebells to really make you work out. Might be worth looking at your diet as well. The main thing is to do something you enjoy or you won't work hard and you won't get anything out of it. Best of luck Helen

As you have a few months before your event there is no need to rush and try fad diets or exercise regimes. You can make simple changes that will give you the results you need, and more importantly you will be able to incorporate these changes permanently for a healthier, fitter lifestyle. Eat regular healthy meals to curb hunger pangs which is generally what leads to snacking on unhealthy foods and take up an activity or class that you find enjoyable. If you engage in 30 mins of physical activity everyday - this could be running with the dog, chasing a toddler, walking to work etc. combined with your healthy regular eating you could lose 2lbs a week. For more toning and greater fat weight loss you could take a class 2 or 3 times a week, whether that be Zumba, Boxercise, cycling or whatever activity you enjoy that will give a full body workout and last about an hour. Either of these or both combined will ensure you look and feel great on the big day and after. Good luck Brian Toughen Up

Hi Hayley, I work in a powerplate studio in Baker Street called Trinity Health Club, I wonder what happened after your powerplate session. You could try a spin class or rowing because for effective weight loss you need quite a lot of cardio (not my favourite exercise though as I prefer resistance training!). You could come down and try a class and see if you like it. I am the resident massage therapist at Trinity and top practitioner on Wahanda and I have devised a massage technique that can help with inch loss: it's a vigorous deep tissue massage that is similar to a G5 treatment. All the best, Paola
ni-bootcamp
To lose weight you need to exercise for long periods to put your body into fat burning mode. Here at NI Bootcamp you come for a week, exercise all day every day and the results are at least 7 pound weight loss, but more importantly, a dress size smaller from all the toning over the week. To book see our website http://www.nibootcamp.co.uk.
