What's the best way to get some work experience - I have NVQ 11 but no experience.

Why dont you offer some free work experience to a salon on the weekend for 4 weeks. Gain some experience and who knows where it might lead. I got my first job through my work experience placement, I did half a day for free once a week whilst at college then when I finished they offered me a job. Good luck!

Hi there where abouts do you live? if you search the internet there are companies out there that support new buisnesses. where you could go and do open days to promote yourself. Or you could ring around your local salons and see if you could do a couple of days work experience free of charge. Your experience is based on your training aswell so you have some experience but maybe not in a salon you could even ask your college if you could work in the college salon just to build up on confindence and skills hope this helps a little

In these times when nobody is hiring, I would agree with the advice given here and settle for even a small part time job in a local salon. Anywhere where you can gain experience and learn. When you enquire at salons, always have a one page summary of your CV to leave with them, making the most of your willingness to learn which is sometimes more important than experience to prospective employers. Coming up to Christmas we are all more busy than at any other time of the year so if you do get hired, even if is just for the holidays, try and become such an efficient and personable member of staff that just maybe they will think twice about laying you off after the holidays. Hi there, it is very easy to gain some experience in spray tanning poviding you have the right equipment. Do you already have a gun etc? Where abouts are you based? I would be more than happy to discuss what I use and how to gain some experience.
