Disappointed with my new cut - the layers cut into my curly hair are far too short, so am having to wear my hair up for the time being until they grow out.
Also could not believe that this salon doesn't have hair straighteners!!
I've spent the last 9 months in search of a suitable replacement to the hairdresser that I very sadly had to leave behind upon moving back from London.
I had been looking for small, intimate & independent places, which feel quirky and have some character to them, rather than the larger brand name chain salons, which personally, despite their swish interiors and hefty price tag, I have often left feeling unheard and subsequently, disappointed with the final cut/style.
After reading some great reviews on Treatwell, I booked an appointment at Village Hair.
I arrived a little early but was seen straight away by Sarah.
I'm pretty useless at accurately describing what style I'd like to go for, but she was able to figure out what I meant and also offered some (welcome) suggestions of her own. The conversation during the appt flowed naturally and didn't feel forced or pressured. The banter between the two stylists gave the impression that it was a nice place to work and for me, that friendliness between colleagues & witnessing people enjoy their job, always ends up with me having a better experience as a client. It feels more authentic and welcoming! The music was great too!
At the end, my hair was exactly as Sarah had described/planned during the initial consultation (which hasn't always been a guarantee when trying a new salon in the past) - I really liked the cut and as per one of my requests: I have been able to style my short hair, both in its usually 'edgy' way, and in a 'tidier' fashion for when the situation requires.
I have only positive things to say about my experience here, and if it isn't obvious, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Village Hair to others.
It's official: My search for a new salon is over! The very large shoes of my previous hairdresser have been filled.
Thank you to Sarah & co.

Booked my appointment a week in advance, for my well deserved special treat - new colour, cut, finish, glass of bubbly and 6 mins on the sun bed, for a very reasonable price of £58...and a Sunday appointment, couldn't believe my luck! When I turned up for my appointment, I was asked if I had been in for a skin test, and no I hadn't, no body had been in touch with me about a skin test. So I was turned away...devastated! He was very apologetic and explained that Treatwell had not been updated and this has happened 3 times now. Why they didnt ring me 48 hours before to tell me that I need to come in, or I wouldnt be able to have my hair done....literally throwing away good business. No emails, no phone call, and nothing on Treatwell warning of this.
Such a lovely little salon! I had Danny bleaching and toning my hair for me and he did such a good job! I'd previously bleached my own hair and it was a horrible patchy mess but he sorted it out! Friendly service and really, really good prices.
