Someone else said that coming to USA Star Nails really is entirely unpredictable when it comes to the staff member's skills, and I have had the same experience. Sometimes you are lucky and get someone really talented in offering the service you paid for; but more often than not, you...dont. It is never "disastrously bad" which is why people come back, I assume (at least for me that's true), plus the location is really convenient but it is impossible to get a consistently high quality outcome.
This time was again a case of..could have been better but wasnt. The male staff member was fairly inexperienced: the removal process for my existing Shellac was time-consuming and at times painful; his manicure left the cuticles quite rough, nails were cut unevenly and whats worse: the Shellac polish was a lot paler around the cuticles and way darker and thicker towards the tip of the nails. Classic rookie-mistake.
I understand that new staff members need to train, but in cases like this a salon should really offer the customer the choice of EITHER a discount for going with the inexperienced staff member OR to have someone with experience to provide the service one paid for. That is how it's been done with hairstylist for the longest time, why not for nail technicians????

I have been coming to this salon for several years, and the service provided varies greatly, depending heavily on the staff member assigned to you (regretfully, it is impossible to book a specific staff member). However, this time, a new-ish staff member did my nails and she was absolutely brilliant!!! Even if she appeared new to me, she obviously knew her stuff, and it showed by how proficiently she was removing the old shellac, doing the manicure, shaped the nails (I didn't want them cut but just equalised which was exactly what I wanted) and applied the new shellac. I went for French Manicure with Shellac and while I tried it a couple of times before, I never really liked the outcome as the white tip was either way too thick or terribly uneven. This time it is amazingly even. Excellent all around!!!
