Unfortunately I noticed that some employees from
the shoes area (one in particular more than the others), and some others were making fun of some family members, exchanging glances and laughing. One even said about her colleague's comment: you're terrible!
I was paralysed, embarrassed and indignant. I work with human communication and it's essential to train the team. Ethics and respect always. Especially when it comes to a children's shop, where the environment should be welcoming and safe.
I had no issue with the haircut itself, however I did not appreciate the repeated lecture I was given on how I should bring my daughter to the store with freshly washed, conditioned and brushed hair. She went on and on about how thick her hair was and how much time it was taking but most upsettingly, I was asked "where does your daughter get her Oriental hair from". This is an unacceptable question to ask and absolutely non of her business and quite frankly racist. I was shocked and appalled.
