The Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa part of Historic Sussex Hotels

The Spread Eagle's Spa brings a distinctly contemporary touch to this historic hotel, with excellent facilities beneath a Scandinavian-style vaulted wooden ceiling. It's the perfect spot to swim in our indoor heated Pool, relax in the Jacuzzi spa pool, Scandinavian sauna and steam room.

Workout in our well-equipped, air-conditioned fitness suite or enjoy a rejuvenating body or beauty treatment in one of the spa's three temperature-controlled treatment rooms.

For those seeking the ultimate in well-being, day and overnight spa packages are available for men, women and couples. Use of the spa is free to most hotel guests and spa day customers and we are open seven days a week. Monday to Friday 7.00am to 9.00pm, weekends and Bank holidays 8.00am to 8.00pm. Our three treatment rooms are generally open from 10am to 6pm everyday, though earlier and later appointments are available on request.

Children are welcome in our pool during our family times which are 10.30am to 12.30pm and 3.00pm to 5.00pm daily.

For the first time Historic Sussex Hotels have been included in the London Stock Exchanges landmark 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain report. What does this mean? It is a report produced annually to showcase the UKs most inspiring and fast growing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). To be selected for the list, businesses must demonstrate positive growth in revenue over the last four years and also significantly outperform their sector peers. The list, of 1000 companies, includes only two other hotels. Historic Sussex Hotels is one of only 148 companies on the list from the South East.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Facilities were comfortable and cosy , music not too loud or overwelming, relaxation room was just perfect! Changing room a little cramped when wet people are trying to get to their lockers at the same time.

After a mix-up at the start, there was not enough time to try all the facilities, but excellent spa staff made it a very enjoyable experience. The pool was clean, quiet and very relaxing, as was the jacuzzi. Great massage, although noise from the corridor was distracting.
Lunch was 'interesting', with a very abrupt waiter and after a 45 minute wait, a dried up roast meal. I'll go again for the spa and eat elsewhere.

The Hotel is welcoming from the moment you walk through the door with comfy sofas and open log fires. The staff are friendly and attentive; nothing was too much trouble and never left you waiting.
Again, the staff in the spa are friendly and both our treatments were exactly what we expected, we both had a deep tissue massage and I also had a body scrub. My only disappointment was that there was no outside jacuzzi or pool but that is purely personal taste and no fault of the hotel itself. We stayed overnight and the beds are super comfy and dinner was exceptional, again the gentleman waiting on us was helpful and courteous and the manager also made you feel very welcome. I would definitely come back and would recommend without a shadow of doubt!
Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Was okay, but the pool area got busy and there aren't many beds. Changing rooms so small and cramped. Wouldn't go back. Also they don't offer gel manicures.
